Ok I know it's early to be thinking of it but I need something to look forward to now that winter is getting underway!
Longe range forecast looks a bit grim..was thinking of going along the coast for a bit of a change, basically the old 9.30 ride in reverse. Thoughts? _______________ The Force is strong in this one... « Last edit by Davey C on Mon Oct 29, 2012 2:26 pm. »

Nice ones guys thanks for the replies. I guess the rest of this club are the 'strong silent types'
Old 9.30 ride in reverse then. However I propose we don't go through the lanes to start, instead straight down the A48 to Ewenny, Ogmore By Sea and then pick up the route along the coast. I'd like to do another 40 mins tempo, I'll start it by Taibach lights and I reckon that'll take us to Llantwit Major?
Weather forecast looks cold with showers coming in around midday so we may be lucky. _______________ The Force is strong in this one...

ok, weather crap to start, but me and dave Lloyd braved the rain for the first hour and met up with Carwyn, striker, Selwyn and Dan at the plaza. Dan made a quick call to DAISY (AKA Disco) dave crowley, the response - too wet and cold for the tifosi! so as the sun was low over Margam, we changed the route and me dave, carwyn and dan went up over the bwlch. As i had borrowed a power tap for the weekend, we took it steady through afan, and had great pleasure in quoting the numbers on the bwlch as we were chewing on the bar tape!
Over the mini bwlch the numbers were in in the region of 350W over the top - Dave and me had no bar tape left at this point to chew on, while Carwyn and dan shared stories, discussed hair styles and the latest addition of OK magazine!! no coffee stop for me and Dave as by now we couldnt feel our hands and feet! we must be getting old!!!
Good ride and company! see you next week. _______________ 'There are few things you can't do as long as you are willing to apply yourself'

Its strange the way you feel about the weather knowing I am probably working the next two Saturdays. I had to get my name on the board today as being one of the real hard knock bastards that PTW has produced over the years. So I left porthcawl in pouring rain to rendezvous with Mr Power Tap Evans at Pyle lights. Soaked to the skin we arrived at the Plaza to meet..........nobody. Good I can ride home with andy and post how tough we are on the web. Then a very strange thing happened the clouds cleared the sun came out Selwyn breezed up in short sleeve shirt, no gloves, no helmet> Its at this point i know i am never gonna be that hard!
Striker, Carwyn and Dan then turned up but where was our leader? what can we do without Disco and his 40 minutes of threashold. The clouds kept clearing but then the mind got awfully fuzzy and someone said LETS GO OVER THE BWLCH.
So off we went without a second thought, Dan held back to try and coax our leader Dave (Crowley not Camron) out of bed. This didnt work so he caught us up pretty soon.
The rest is very much as Andy posted except he very kidly left out the fact about me crawling up the mountain. But hey some idiots are going to pay £55 to ride this hill next year and I can do it every week for free (lucky me).
Good ride thanks lads. all now on strava for those who want a laugh at my pace. _______________ sleep is for the weak

Ha ha!! Well done guys!! Very impressed with your commitment!! It was hammering down by me at 9.30 so I decided to wait a bit and left about 10, stuck to the route proposed and actually had a very sunny and dry ride! Met up with the rest of the 9.30 boys at aberkenfig and rode back to PT fairly steady. Glad to see that there are others clearly more waterproof than me! _______________ The Force is strong in this one...
