What a beautiful Sunny day for a Club Run. Too cold really for removing Arm warmers and leg warmers but some brave souls were out in shorts.

The club run was an anti climax for JD and Griff who had all adorned their trusty steeds with 25 tooth sprockets in readiness for the devil’s Elbow. Spot, on the other hand had other ideas and decided we were going on a not too hilly ride around north Gower. This seemed to appeal to the masses as the BBCR consisting of 17 riders set off I Think this is the list:

Spot, Kerry’s Brother Ray, me, JD, Dai Triggs, Mark Thomas, Tony Roach, Ryan and McCauley Lay, Wayne Reyneke and Griff. The Ystradgynlais chapter consisting of Chris Allen, Greg “Beut” Williams, Andy Williams, and someone who unfortunately I didn’t get his name. We picked up Selwyn and Jeff Griffiths at Baglan.

With such a large group it was a bit difficult keeping it all together but happily the pace was comfortable until the first hill, Christopher Road Ynysforgan ….. Apparently this is easier than Chemical Road Moriston…. If you weigh 5 stone…. As we climbed past Moriston Hospital there was disarray as those not best suited to climbing scrambled their way back on and those suited to climbing slowed up. This was the perfect opportunity and Griff took two the first two Primes in quick succession. It was noted that the little known prime called Pant Lasau was distinctly up hill. RESULT!!!

Griff being two primes up was only going to cause problems in the Peloton but fortunately for some, hostilities abated until the Gower, as getting the large group through the traffic at Moriston, Penllergaer, Gorseinon and Gowerton was proving to be difficult.

The road around North Gower is littered with tiny villages and Primes came thick and fast. Spot, Quick to get in on the act and overhaul Griff’s lead was in the thick of it but there was strong competition from Greg Williams and Wayne Rayneke. After Penclawdd the Peloton was a bit twitchy and Griff and Spot went off a pace only to find they had been sprinting for the Morgans Country Store Sign at Crofty. It all got a bit too much for Greg who decided the Dave Abbott Approach was the best policy and sat about 130m off the front with an aim of picking up a few primes. Wayne was having none of this and soon set off to have a play as well. By the time we got to Llanrhidian the urge was too much for Spot who was straining at the leash and off he went just failing to take the points.

Spot did take the difficult Burry Green Prime Just pipping Griff and I managed to get in on the act taking one at Llanddewi. Spot won the prime at Kelston and Selwyn also picked up one before we stopped at the Compass Coffee Shop Club.

The club run kept a much more respectable pace back towards Swansea however JD did take the downhill and scary Park Mill Prime.

Just to let you know though Guys. One to watch for the future Young McCauley Laye, who had been quiet all day. Did have a real go at the final Pentyla Prime and Spot only just managed to Reel him in. Chapeaux young man.

Great day out and nice to see Dai Triggs and Mark Thomas sitting comfortably within the bunch.

KOM Greg Beut Williams and Wayne Reyneke

Nice write up. I could come along, if the ride started about 4 in the afternoon...

BTW, could we have a small ™ (trademark) symbol after Dai Abbott Approach? We wouldn't want to infringe his intellectual property (whether he wants it or not :) )

Electric bikes are great. They give ordinary people the chance to know what it feels like to be me.
