On the verge of purchasing a new GPS system, Garmin 500 or 800 are my choice, what do folk recommend please.......Or are there other options worth checking out???

Cheers!!!

For the way we tend to use them theres not much too chose between them really, the sat nav on the 800 is a nice gimmick but I've only ever used it once LOL. and I think the 500 has the same anyway. They both read power heart rate cadence etc.... and the upload to the computer is the same....

Sat navs have a habit of assuming the world is flat (cf: E2E Day 7)

This isn't much of a problem if you are motorised, but us cyclists are incredibly sensitive to the slightest slope (some more than others). Have Garmin sorted this out yet?

Electric bikes are great. They give ordinary people the chance to know what it feels like to be me.
