New Mavic SLs and new ultegra 10 speed cassette to be fitted, hub already had a relatively wide spacer supplied, so not sure if the initial narrower spacer supplied with the cassette also needs fitting, as seems strange to have 2 spacers next to each other. If one is surplus to requirements, which one is it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

My guess is, fit spacer, then sprockets. the sprockets should overhang the hub body by about 1-2mm. If you tighten the lock ring and there's play in the cassette use the bigger spacer.
