Wise move going to the Christmas market K & A.
Opened the bedroom curtains this morning and the rain was passing the window horizontally, and I whispered something like 'Clucking Bell' (Got to keep it clean!), as I didn't want to wake my dear wife, sleeping snuggly in our nice warm bed. So yes, I eventually mustered up enough enthusiasm to go cycling. Got to a rain free Plaza hoping that I would be the only idiot there, but no chance of that with this club! Bev was the only other regular rambler to turn up, so we decided to combine the BBCR and the rambler ride , in a historic moment for our club runs.So we set off East aiming for the Blackmill cafe. Fellow 'Tossers' included Spot, Little John, Mark Williams, Bev, and the Porthcawl chapter of Les, Mike Hall and Jeremy Isaacs. We went up the Pen-Y-Bryn lane (Where it started raining again!) to the bottom of 'Doc Richards Hill', where we turned left, then after about half a mile we turned right over a stiff short climb (New roads to me), we then made our way through 'Bettws' and over another climb (Still raining!). Obviously, these climbs were little warm ups before we crossed over to the 'Ogmore Valley' via the bleeding 'Mini Bwlch' (Still raining!). Mark and Spot (Who still had last weeks cold) did a stirling job pushing Bev up most of the climbs. We dropped into the 'Ogmore Valley' to the 'Blackmill Cafe', for the cuppa I had been dreaming about since we had left the Plaza. We had a good chat and refreshments before setting off (In the rain!) down the cycle path to 'Tondu'. There we picked up the main road to 'Parc Slip' and lanes back home. On the lanes the heavy rain turned torrential, so we surfed our way back into 'Port Talbot' at a quarter past one, extremely wet, but happy!!!! The pace was decent but traditional clubrun speed. The company was excellent with Bev having plenty of support. It was an enjoyable ride even though the weather was 'S--T'. ![]() _______________ Born to ride (Unless it's raining ) |

Also a big thank you to all the guys on the ride today, who when asked to drop the pace back a tad, did so and kept the group together on what was a pretty damp day. Just emptied the water out of my frame, my shoes, my socks, my......... |
