Good route Spot. I remember the clubrun used to do that ride a couple of times during the year.
However, back to the 'Rambler' ride (My back is a lot better) and I propose it goes West this Sunday. Aim for Blackpill, but if we are all feeling ok, we could push on to Llanelli and the cafe in Pwll.
So it's 10am at the Plaza, as per normal gang! _______________ Born to ride (Unless it's raining )

Bad start for me on today's rambler ride. Left my money, spare tubes, pump etc at home. Punished for having a couple of red wines on Sat. night. Thanks to Les for giving me money (Oops, sorry Les, I meant lent me money!) and Jez for lending me an inner tube. Cheers lads.
The weather was dry with a stiff south/easterly wind. The ramblers set off West, in the same direction as, and with, the main clubrun. We parted company at Baglan roundabout, where the main clubrun went down the dual, with Will, Dai Triggs and me taking the cycle track. We were soon joined by Kev 'Slim' Rattenbury, well, he has lost 6lbs in the last two weeks!
The four of us enjoyed a screaming tail wind to Swansea. Going on to the sea front we found the wind wipping the sand up onto the cycle track (It was like a scene from the 'Mummy') and I soon came to a full stop in a dune which was blocking the way. We pushed on to Gowerton where we turned and rode back to Blackpill and a welcomed cuppa.
We rode home into the stiff wind that blew us out. I parted company with the lads on the Ferry bridge and got back to the Plaza at half past one on my own.
I believe there are many members in the club that would benefit from this type of ride, with its moderate pace, relaxed mood, and a good 40 miles covered. Today's turnout was disappointing. However, thanks to those who did turnout, making the ride enjoyable. _______________ Born to ride (Unless it's raining )

Kev, glad you had a good day.
I am probably one of the members who would benefit from this type of ride, as definately bit off more than I could chew today with the big boys, running on empty and made decision to make a sharp U turn to head for home, then a poor decision to go the shortest route home which included Rhigos and Bwlch into what felt like a gale all the way home.
So glad to be home and having a beer after my first trip to hell and back.

Go for it Jez!
I know you are 'DoubleJ' but there's no need to do double postings! Lol.
The thing is with the ramblers ride is that people have the choice. Sometimes (Especially this time of year) people just need to ride the bike a little gentler than normal, and enjoy the view.
Thanks again for the lend of the inner tube, which is still in its box, untouched.

Kev, the ramblers is a great option, keep up the good work.
I for one like the advance postings detailing where you are likely to go :-))
Glad u had no need for the tube, but taking precautions and carrying a rubber is always sensible

We sent our apologies for today. Both of us were away. Shame as it sounds like we would have really enjoyed it! We will be back next week though.

Got your apologies from Les, Kara. Probably going East next Sunday, so a little bit more climbing. Don't worry though, the ramblers new motto (Just thought up by me!) is 'We only go as fast as the slowest rider'. Hopefully a better turnout next Sunday.
Nice joke about the rubber Jez. _______________ Born to ride (Unless it's raining )
