July is fast approaching, and that means only one thing ----- Le Tour!
8 of us are going over to France tonight and another 2 are flying over (By plane!) tomorrow. We will be staying at Brucies place in the Vendee. Going for ten days and watching the first 4 stages, and the first stage passes within one mile of his house. 6 of us are PTW's (Me, No legs, Little John, Brucie, Martin Edwards & Lindsey Jones) so look out for the club jersey and a Welsh flag. CJ may be picking up some work from the continent soon with all this advertising!
We are obviously taking the bikes so it will be 10 days of cycling, eating, drinking and sleeping! It's going to be very tough! _______________ Born to ride (Unless it's raining )

I think that shows true commitment.
Whether that's a commitment to cycling, eating, drinking or sleeping I'm not saying _______________ Electric bikes are great. They give ordinary people the chance to know what it feels like to be me.

In the absence of any reports from the Le Tour team ..... Little Kev, you'd better have a better excuse than ... NO internet access !!!!
Just arrived in Mende ( which is somewhere North of marseille !! ) and on route south, there are hundrerds of notices of the road closures and subsequent arrivals of the tour !!
I know it doesn't tell you much but maybe it'll whet your appetites for when we do get the tour team reports !!!!

Got back at half past one this morning. No, there wasn't any internet access in deepest Vendee, and we didn't have a computer anyway - too busy cycling! Also, didn't read anything after Bill's entry as we had already left for France.
First of all, I would like to say how fantastic it was to hear of young Dan's achievement in the British national junior road race. If he keeps his feet on the floor and works hard, goodness knows what heights he could achieve! No doubt bells will be ringing (Probably been ringing for a while) with many top people and organisations, alerting them of Dan's potential. Better get his autograph now!
Meanwhile back at the TDF - The weather was warm and dry with a brisk breeze most days. The roads around Jeff's place are mostly undulating, very quiet and a surface that you could play snooker on! Just perfect for cycling. One of the main things we all agreed on was the traffic. No driver gave us hassle or even came close to us. All of them were patient on the smaller roads (When we did encounter anything). We even felt safe on the small stretches of dual carriageway. Lorries were also very careful, and went well past us before pulling in. The atmosphere at the stages was superb. We counted as many as 7 helicopters following the riders and it was like a scene from 'Apocolypse Now'. Cycling back from the first stage and the team time trial, lots of cars were giving us a friendly beep and wave. Little John and I were interviewed by radio Wales during the team TT. It went out at half eight this morning. We were also on the telly waving our Welsh flags during that TT. Went to the start on the third stage and spoke to Geraint, Shane Sutton and Sean Yates. Dave Brailsford even ribbed us with 'Come on the valley boy's' when we were congratulating Geraint on the white jersey.
Got a lot of good rides in, although I missed the longest and hardest one to the coast and back due to having a cold. We had a good bunch of sensible riders so everyone enjoyed themselves. The Vendee is just perfect for cycling with its little villages and smooth winding roads - and yes, the wine is pretty good as well.
Get yourselves down there and experience a different level of cycling, where our sport and lives are respected by other road users. _______________ Born to ride (Unless it's raining )
