I want to get tyres for racing, looking at Schwabel Ultremos R1 or the Pro3.
Jejamescycles has got the Schwables for £22.99 on special. Any suggestions

Wayne, i used michelin pro race 3 last year. good tyre. I've got ultremos on this year, they seem equally good. Main reason for swapping is that I wore out 3 rears last year on the michelin, so looking to find something that lsts a bit longer.

I'm running Mich Pro 3's as well, and they do go fast when they're nice and new. However I refuse to change them until they are absolutely begging for mercy, and that hasn't happened yet

wayne, i have uesd both, the ultremos were the "R" series (1st ones) and they were a softer compound than the pro 3s and rolled very fast, however i was plagued by punctures (16 in under 1000 miles!), and being soft they wore out very quickly.
I also experienced "bulges" in the sidewalls of one of them.

The pro 3s were longer lasting, but did cut up quite considerably early on but this had no obvious effect on performance.

I have been running conti 4000s for a while now and have only had 3 punctures in over 10,000 miles, plus they last for ages, dont cut up and can be picked up at good prices if you shop around.

Finally, i do use vittoria tyres on two bikes and whilst i haven't put big miles on them yet ,they have yet to puncture and have a lovely smooth ride quality.
