In the 4th cat race, Richard Gambling, Wayne Reyneke and yours truly stepped up to the line to race Llandow clockwise this week. With a severe head wind in the finishing straight it did mean that it was easier than last week with the pace slowing considerably each time we turned for home. Richard and Wayne were busy at the front of the bunch whereas I spent my time being busy at the back......It did seem odd to have a rest every time you go up hill but there you go....

Anyway, after about 15 mins the first bell sounded for a prime and low and behold Richard and Wayne were up there giving it some and just failed to pick up the money, Wayne was second by half a wheel and Richard third. Not sure why this would be but they did come back and keep me company for a few laps afterwards LOL.
2nd Prime they could both see pound signs again and once again they both had a go without the success their efforts deserved.
After 40 minutes the 5 laps to go board went up and the pace seemed to drop a little as the bunch began to wait bunch sprint. Lyn Jones of Merthyr CC went for a sneaky one, but Richard gambling upped the pace and Lyn was caught with about a lap and a half to go. As we took the bell and head off into turn one, there was an almighty squeal of brakes and a rider almost took Richard out, both doing well to keep upright. I too had to slam on the anchors and the loss of momentum meant mad panic down the very quick back straight.... I was not going to be dropped now...... But having done that effort I had nothing left for the sprint and we all finished in the bunch just outside the points.
In the 2nds and 3rds It was down to the Stacey family to represent the club as Tank and Hefin are away seeking sunnier weather in Majorca and Davey is off doing missionary work racing in the midlands.
Anyway, the race was hard as ever, but Gerry Bowditch and another rider managed to get away after around 1/2 an hour. Further more. they made it stick. and whilst other riders including Mark and Curtis were active on the front of the bunch but they could never seem to get the bunch wipped up enough to bring them back
All in all a good days work and I'm noty sure yet but I think Davey trip to the midlands looked as if it was quite profitable, How did it Go Disco?
