Almost a full squadra lined up today in breezy and chilly conditions at Llandow motor racing circuit for 1hr + 5 laps. Game plan, as always for crits, was to try and get someone, preferably Tank, in the break. However with a MASSIVE field of at least 50 riders it was going to be tricky.
From the off I felt terrible but kept telling myself I would come round. However I think a winter of losing weight and trainign on the climbs has hurt my ability to hang onto the *ahem* 'larger' riders in events such as these and there was not much I could really contribute today.
Hefin did very well to chip away with 5 other riders early on to come in 4th. Tank, despite repeated attacks with Charles Rees (Raleigh Developmental Squad) couldn't escape the bunch or make much progress in the brutal head/cross wind that buffetted the bunch. Curtis and Mark looked strong and everyone else finished safely in the bunch.
So there we go, points on the board and a man in the break.
The season has started!
