hi my name is chris chick, i have been a keen cyclist over the past year and i am thinking of joining your club. Thanks to Alf for putting me onto this forum too. So a few questions, 1. where do i start, i can see you do a number of rides over the weekend so which one should i try first, 2, do i need the insurance before i come along, and finally 3, is there a club members only ride this sunday or could i come along to watch. Give me a ring on 07976 601218 and we'll have a chat as I often think whatever we write in response to requests like this it somehow never gets put over quite right.

Our normal advice for those trying out the sport for the first time is that we recommend coming along to either the Friday afternoon Saturday 10:30am rides or the Sunday club run. However, before you can take part in any ride, we must confirm that you have suitable 3rd-Party liability insurance in place. This comes as standard with membership of:

•British Cycling (Silver or Gold),
•The Cyclists Touring Club , or
•the British Triathlon Assocation

You can apply for membership to any one of these organisations on line and once you have a joined you will be issued with a membership number.

This is all you need to take part in any of our rides as we do not require you to be a member to take part although if you regularly take part in our activities and enjoy the company obviously we encourage people to join the club.
