I don't really know Pete but I'd suggest - challenge, variety and to keep it in existence.
BTW well done on your recent rides! _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character). |

I have a view on the current version of the R10/22 with the revised finish down beyond the Farmers Pub.
The preceeding junction/ left hand turn on the bridge is a hazzard. Having marshalled there a few times I witness how some riders despite my best efforts continue to hurl themselves into the road with no regard for their own safety and I believe it is only a matter of time before there's an accident. I understand that there have been isssues with the finish on the bridge, however I do believe we should be looking for an alternative start/finish. On Saturday I witnessed at least 3 incidents that could have led to something worse. ![]() _______________ Pain is only temporary - Quitting is for ever ........ Lance Amstrong |

I cant believe you are asking that question.
You do your time against the course and conditons on the day. Its like asking why do we do hill climbs? Why not go to the top and race downhill??? 10/23 is great course. _______________ sleep is for the weak |

I agree Martin and this has been discussed in the DC meetings ad finitum. We cannot park a vehicle on the bridge and, equally, cannot expect timekeepers to be standing in the rain for up to two hours. For the avoidance of any doubt, it's not just about getting wet! It's more to do with writing times down on something dry and not papier mache! Norman James has tried repeatedly to create another variant but just cannot get the key measurements to work. Any fresh ideas would be more than welcome and can be chanelled through me. Thanks for your input. _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character). |

With regards to r10/23, we've got to have a bit of variation. nice to ride different roads. With regards to r10.22, could we not start further round the industrial estate and have the finish inthe layby before the roundabout?? Probably been thought of already I guess. I must admit , I really do dislike the current finish by the pub, but do understand why It has to be there.

Sorry, hit return to soon, I know it would be a little shorter, but the current finish by the farmers puts the distance to 10.13 miles (according to my garmin)

It can't be beyond the wit of mankind to take a chair to sit on at the bridge? I have marshalled the 50 in the pouring rain down at the cricket club, and I assure you I have never done it standing up (ooer... ). Even though I turned up on a motorbike, I still had a chair and an umbrella with me, quite sufficient to keep paper dry (if I had had any).
Mind you there are those who have managed to pack their TT bike onto their motorbike (so I understand, although I have yet to see it). I've never had the cheek to try that! ![]() _______________ Electric bikes are great. They give ordinary people the chance to know what it feels like to be me. |

AFAIK not one timekeeper has mentioned anything about preferring to sit rather than stand. The umbrella is a valid point, if you've got three hands and the divine ability to control the wind from turning it inside out or blowing it across your field of vision. _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character). |
