Whilst the Squadra were giving their road vests an airing on Sunday in the Abergavenny Handicap Road Race, Squadra Chrono were out in Force over two days this weekend with a strong contingent of riders taking part in two Acme Wheelers events in the Neath Valley.
A 10 mile TT on Saturday on the dual Carriageway course at Resolven followed by a 25 Mile TT on Infamous Glyneath Course on Sunday. One and a half hours of pain spread over two days..... Sweet....... And just to add to the interest the gave us turn times on both events also..........
So here goes
Acme 10 Saturday Afternoon 2:00 start.
One of the first out of the Blocks was Rod hicks and it didn't fair well when his turn time showed 14:16 (5.8miles) That was a tough outward leg straight into the teeth of a strong wind If Rod took over 14 minutes, how long would the rest of us take?
Well, John Stroud dug deep to record a 15:09 outward leg and Dai Triggs followed up with a 16:03.
James Lewis showed that a good turn time was possible recording 13:03 and I surprised myself recording a 13:50. Gary Gregory recorded a 15:59 turn time and I don't know why, but Chris Allen's turn time was not posted when I left...... and so to the homeward leg.
On the way back it was the case of How fast can you go? and Rod Hicks showed what was possible if you just "stuck it in the Eleven Sprocket and left it there"
Final Times
James Lewis 22:44
Rod Hicks 22:54
Chris Allen 23:57
Les Thomas 24:17
John Stroud 26:22
Dai Triggs 27:40
Gary Gregory 27:17
The event was won by Ceri Pritchard in 20:43
