I see your recent operation was a resounding success. No need for that.Your spelling is atrociuos, there's only four letters in the word you were struggling for. Anyway it's me Norma Stitz, A.K.A, Titus, Shirley, or I'll be who ever you want

The Port Talbot Wheelers stopped being solely the The Port Talbot Wheelers when we agreed the original Sponsorship all those years ago. However, this was for some 5 main sponsors, each of which having had the right to see their names on the club kit and start sheets etc.
In the AGM of September 2008 a proposotion that we continue the Sponsorship deal with one main Sponsor and two subsiduary sponsors was carried to Commence on 1st January 2009 for three years This means we have had to register the name and Sponsors with British Cycling and as the two subsidiary sponsors are intrinsically liked to CJ construction, effectively this made the Name Port Talbot Wheelers CJ Construction Group. As secretary I would remind members that we have recently received the benefit of heavily subsidised clothing. This has been done as part of the sponsors committment to the club, the second part of that deal is that we as members have a duty to our sponsor when sending off entries etc. I hope this clarifies the situation However, If you need to discuss further please feel free to have a chat with me or any of the committee members either down the club room on a friday night or at any time on one of the club rides « Last edit by Les Thomas on Sat Mar 27, 2010 6:32 pm. » |

Pip is right in spirit and intent but Dear Rhea (see what I did there?) is right too as I cannot recall Club Rule No.1 being amended...
The Club shall be called the Port Talbot Wheelers Cycling Club (hereafter the Club) and its primary objective shall be to encourage the sport and pastime of cycling in all its forms. Perhaps we can all agree to focus on the second half of that historic sentence from 1926! _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character). |

I for another don't recall agreeing to changing the club name. I was under the impression that the club would be Port Talbot Wheelers CC (sponsored by etc, etc). As in my first post on this thread I don't wish to cause any offence to the sponsors, but as much as we are benefitting from subsidised kit, so they are benefitting from advertising.

Just a thought, but are we having a new club badge?. Port Talbot Wheelers and C.J.Construction Group Cycling Club. A rough estimate, with all that lettering it'll probably end up just under the size of a dinner plate

Fair point Alf, Obviously I did not take into account rule 1 in my response which was an error and correctly pointed out. I am also in total agreement with your last sentence.
Strangely though I find I am also in agreement with some of Rhea Voomirra's penultimate post. In that yes members benefit from the financial support of the sponsor and the sponsors benefit from advertising. One of the opportunities for advertising is on start sheets and result sheets posted on Open events. This is recognised by both the CTT and British Cycling in that we have to pay additional subscriptions to both organisation. However the only way we can make this happen is by including the details on our entry forms. With this in mind, I hope the following request will be more agreeable. For the remainder of the current sponsorship deal, could members include the club name and our sponsors name i.e. "CJ construction group Ltd" on entry forms for open events. This advertising opportunity is something we pay additional fees to the CTT and British Cycling for and we therefore make this request to ensure we get the best value for money. It should also obviate the need to change the club badge ![]() |

Yes please. Personally, I think any opportunity to spread the name of the club and the fact that we have a generous benefactor should be grabbed in both hands.
