I dont know where the club stands on charitable donations?
so here goes, a friend at work has just found out that his 6 year old daughter lucy has a rare form of terminal leukaemia.
Im sure you will all agree with me that there can be no worse news for any parent.
Through the company i work for (first great western trains) we have numerous sporsorship events planned to raise money for lucy as a matter of urgency.
I personally have put together a team of riders (14), who are planning a few cycle events.
We will be taking part in the Gran Fondo (190km) Dragon ride on 6th june,
and also 3 seperate 8-12hr turbo endurance events.
Subject to final approval, these will take place at mc arthur glen, port talbot town centre and finally swansea high street station.
Please bare in mind that the 190km dragon is a serious challenge for most of the boys as they are not all regular cyclists, and until recently thought of 15-20 miles as a "long way"!!!
I was hoping that a "Port Talbot Wheelers" club donation could be made?
If not, then would anyone reading this please sponsor us.
Also if anyone has any ideas on raising money in any number of ways please feel free to post here or phone me on 07889909442. Thanks.
Finally, an auction is to be held at the Grand Hotel in swansea on 21st may.
I know there are a few very generous items to bid on, including a weeks accommodation in florida, a weeks acc in turkey, 2 nights luxury hotel in london ect.
If anyone could donate an item to be auctioned that would be fantastic!
You are all welcome to attend!
Please help if you can.
Regards
DAI.
