Ok giving you guys a heads up. Forza cycles have organised a Llandow circuit race this Sunday 10.00am at Llandow motor racing circuit. It's an hours racing for cat 2/3/4 riders and should be a good lungopener.

Your man in the field reporting…
The Squadra Corsa took to the first event of the season this weekend at Llandow motor racing circuit. Curtis Stacey, Hefin Price, Mark Stacey and Disco lined up in a 60 strong field at the 2/3/4 event full of riders keen to shake off the winter cobwebs. Conditions were cold and windy but bright and dry. The Squadra would be up against an impressive looking Cardiff Jif, who seemed to have brought every one of their club members out. Also in attendance were the supporting club Forza, fielding an impressive line up keen to make their mark on their home race. The Squadra were approaching the race with mixed aims. Disco had put in 80 miles of the Rhigos and Bwlch the day before and was feeling the effects. Curtis was keen to see what he could do and Hefin was nervous about his form. Mark was there to make sure the bunch was policed. The flag was dropped and in what was to become a pattern of things to come Curtis started attacking and going with every move there was! This continued for the first half of the race, with Hefin and Disco contributing occasionally. After about 20 minutes of this you could sense that some of the legs in the bunch were getting tired and that a split could happen. A flurry of attacks by strong men Peter Georgi (Epic Cycles) and Hefin split the group and a break of 12 was established. This break included 5(!!) Jif, and in a great display of race reading, 3 PTWCC riders, Disco, Hefin and Curtis. The riders worked well and soon the tiring bunch, policed by Mark Stacey and the Jif, was established. David Bees (Forza) and Lewys Hobbs (Should be PTWCC!!) bridged across and we were away. The pattern was set with the break only coming under threat at the Primes where Georgi showed his strength, winning the prime and trying to stay away on his own but eventually reeled in. Soon there were 5 laps on the board and people started looking at each other. Curtis launched a brave move that lasted almost a lap, followed by Disco and Georgi with 2 laps remaining. Neither move stuck however and it came down to the sprint. Disco went into the last corner 4th wheel and unfortunately only had enough momentum to come past one rider in the short sprint to the line. Sitting up too early David Bees pipped him on the line for Disco to take 4th. The race was won in convincing style by Georgi, who was always the favourite. Curtis was tailed off towards the end and Hefin finished just outside the top 10. In summary a good day out for the new PTWCC Squadra and their new kit. 3 riders in the break and despite not really making their numbers count in the finale it shows great promise for the season ahead. Chapeau! Man of the match goes to Curtis Stacey who rode his heart out today. If he could just learn that every attack by the guys with hairy legs and winter bikes in the first 5 minutes of the race isn’t NECESSARILY worth going with I’m sure he’ll go far. ![]() Till next time…. http://www.cardiffjif.com/index.php?option=com_joomgallery&func=detail&id=407&Itemid=55 _______________ The Force is strong in this one... |

great report dave.
well done to everyone, bet those jif guys werent expecting port talbot to be such a strong team in comparison to them, we done the new kit proad .Just to clear everything up, i was treating llandow on sunday as a chance to experience as much pain as possible in an hour, in preparation for the junior road race im doin on sunday which i know is goin to be alot more painful than that, i think the plan worked and i am ready for next weeks race. once i get my tactical head on, im sure i can only do better. And i must add that it was great fun doin a race with my dad, hope theres alot more of those to come ![]() curtis.. |

we'll try to get him there but I think he needs to recover for some of the BIG races later on. It's a long season Steve - don't panic just yet!

Great report Disco and as an avid spectator, I've got to say that if there was a prize for most aggressive rider, Curtis won hands down. Also, got to point out that Phil Harrison also started the event, although stomach cramp put paid to him in the early stages.
Well done to everyone |
