Whilst Disco concentrates on the whole result list I thought I'd let you know how our boys did in advance.

On a bitterly cold day with a headwind up the longest stretch of dual carriageway, It was going to be a tough day however, 6 of the 7 teams representing Port Talbot Wheelers made it to the start line and returned the following results.

Richard Gambling was first composite team with His Tri Life partner Richard Jones They recorded an excellent 1:00:35.

Disco And Hefin Price recorded a very creditable 1:00:57 but Hefin was heard to say "I'm sure we could have gone quicker if Dave hadn't kept straightening his hair and jersey for all the photographers......" :P

Spot and Rod Hicks came home in 1:2:02, Curtis Stacey and Chris Allan did a 1:6:20 Les Thomas and Peter Jones did a 1:10:15 and Gary Gregory and Dai Triggs did a 1:23:21

Andy Evans and Jayson James did not start

The event was won by Colin Wallace and Lyn Jones in 59:09 but it shows how tough the day was when only three teams went under the hour

Well, that well and truely blew out the winter cobwebs  Very happy with how the ride went today. Big thanks to Dave and all who helped on making it another successful event. Cheers, Gambo. 8)

well done to all the riders, who managed good times considering the conditions.
I cant express how happy i was to turn onto the back road after a very windy couple of miles on the dual.
well organised, and to top it off i won £15.

Thanks guys - I'm glad you enjoyed. You all did cracking times on a tough tough day.

Results to follow but I'd like to just say thanks to all who turned out to help me today. CJ for catering like a pro, his home made fairy cakes are to die for. Pip for dragging himself out of his sick bed all the way to Resolven to remind me how crap I am at TTs! Jeff for organising the cash and marshalling. Tud and Selwyn for pushing off, JD and John Willy for marshalling at tricky points; Alf for handling the results board (hope it was big enough - oo eer missus!!) and everyone else who contributed in any way - it's you guys who make the event such an attraction.

Secondly a big thanks to all who competed. An early season event is always a tough one, it's a credit to all who rode and weren't put off by the cold windy conditions. We had almost a full field, and we as a club should be proud so many people want to ride our event. Chapeau to the Port Talbot Wheelers says I!

Finally my ride. Well who would have thought riding a 10 the day before and trying to organise a race with 120 riders the following day would hamper your preparation? What's that? Everyone knows? D'oh!

Running around like a mad man trying to get a million things done last night and this morning whilst trying to prepare myself physically to race was not easy, and in the end it was a case of getting changed with 20minutes to go and literally jumping on the bike and riding to the start just in time for Tud and Selwyn to push me and Hefin off. As a result of no warm up and an unfamiliar bike, I suffered very badly with cramps all the way down the dual but came round a bit on the way back and the back road. The cold got to me and the wind was deceptively strong. However Hefin and I seemed to work well together and I'm pleased with our result.

Til next time...
