whats your favourite type of frame and why? Is it cost, style, comfort etc

Mine would have to be Alloy with Carbon forks and be of a sloping geomatary. They are easily bought from any bike shop so very convieniant

For me, it just has to be steel. I just find them more comfortable and the custom option means that you can get exactly what you want. I built up a fixed wheel using a really cheap (and heavy) 'St. John Street' frame a few years ago (you remember the one No-Legs?) and felt that it was a perfect fit for me so when I was looking for a frame for the 24-hour a couple of years ago I had Bob Jacksons make me two frames to the same dimensions but in a lighter tubing (631). The seat tube angle is 73 degrees and the top tube is 'long' compared to my previous frames but it feels really good. I really should build up the second one (which has mudguard eyes) for the winter although liposuction might be more cost-effective.

What about you No-Legs? Are you in the market for a new road iron? There's plenty on eBay.

I haven't really ridden a wide variety of frames, but I would say that the combination of a good aluminum front triangle & carbon rear is a good middle road 'hedge your bets' option, indeed, that's what I rode.
However, I wouldn't mind trying out a fancy carbon thingy...

I'm hoping to get back on the bike but wont be until after I have sorted out that problem I got ;)
When I do however it will be a steel frame :D They say you feel more part of the bike with steel so I'd give it a go.

Davey, what Carbon frame would you get? There seems to be so many on the market. Ok for you thin guys but I wonder how they would stand up to the heavier club rider in terms of long term use  with my present weight I'd probarly snap it and Kevin Rattenbury would probarly have the same problem

Bianchi. No hesitation!! No rational reason, just love them.

I think reputable carbon frames are stronger than we think, and could take a hammering.

Well Mapie's C40's were rattling along pretty good in Paris-Roubaix in 1996 weren't they? Although I think Ernesto insisted on steel forks back then

Exactly Jack. I think they could take Stumpy's weight.
