Just a quick question, are these sessions proper intervals i.e with short periods of active rest in between efforts.... maybe a chance for the lesser fit amongst us to "get back to the group" or are they a through and off bash survival of the fittest affair? just curious as I could do with some quality workouts.

Apologies for my lack of input to the forum recently and my noted absence from the saturday bash , but I've been working in Hungary and go back out tomorrow for another week. I'm up for it when i come back though!

I haven't been on these sessions for a few years now but
The circuit consists of three left turns around the old Panasonic factory, and is 100 yards longer than a mile ( I know this because it is marked out in 100 yard sections for the Port talbot harriers interval sessions - also held on Tuesdays , but they run on the pavements so no hindrance to us. ).
I would imagine lots of laps would be done.
however, I think it would really depend on who was out and what they wanted to do.

I would be up for this. 6.30 preferred, but not a problem to start at 6.00. Think a 'coach' who decides the sessions and 'polices' the group to make sure it doesn't turn into an eyeballs out last man standing session, might be a good idea.

There is still ice on the back road past the new health centre also temp traffic lights. Stick to the larger circuit that passes Morrisons although still patches of ice on the stretch down to the junction by old Panasonic factory. So have a good look first, I don't think its going to thaw before Tues evening.
I would love to join you but as the temp falls to zero ( it is forcast!!! )I will be heading for the pub.

I'll be up for it when the temperatures rise. Has Jeff says its icy and dangerous and the pub is warmer lolololol!!

In the absence of a coach, why not go with a pre-agreed idea ...e.g.

week one -
5 laps to warm up ( although if you've ridden there you should be nicely warmed up already )
then
half a lap sprint , half a lap recovery x 5 times
full lap sprint, full lap recovery x 5 times
2 lap sprint, 2 lap recovery x 3 times
five lap cool down

Maybe each week as you get fitter this could be increased
just a suggestion ..

I like your thinking Chips. However - i think variety is the spice of life and believe we should alter the format each week - eg one week TT efforts, next weeks sprints.

Who's planning on going tomorrow night then?

Ok - I had a a drive around the circuit last night and I think Jeff has underplayed just how bad it is around there! At least 1/3 of the circuit is covered with ice, and I don't just mean a little bit around the edges of the road, I mean THE WHOLE ROAD. The traffic lights aren't a problem as they are on a straight bit of road and it is quiet.

I won't be there tonight and think it may be a few weeks before the circuit is safe for use!

Davey, I think Jeff was being responsible in warning everyone of the potential harzard of ice. Maybe things have worsened since he last visited the area. But you have have also showed good sense in checking out the area. You have avoided a potential accident. Maybe chips should put your warning on the main web page!!!

I wasn't having a go at Jeff! Just I didn't get the impression from his post that the ice was as bad as it was! In fairness his post promopted me to go out and have a look for myself so thanks for the warning JG.
