Is there a facility to send private messages to forum members? I can't seem to find one if there is.
All the other fora I frequent have this function and it can be useful to contact members for whom there is no other communication system.
thanks

No PM has been set up for members to chat privately on the forum itself. You can email some members if they havent got their email on hidden mode.

You can send a message to anyone even if their email address is hidden. Just click on their name in the left column and then hit 'Send a message'. This will cause the forum to send an email to that person from you. Beware that this will reveal your email address to the person that receives it. I think. I haven't tried it recently. _______________ Electric bikes are great. They give ordinary people the chance to know what it feels like to be me.

I can't see it either, this is the first thing I tried. I think it will only work if the member displays their email address.
All other Bulletin Board/Forum systems I've used, have a private message facility that does not depend on email, it is done via the BB/Forum software itself. Perhaps this just needs to be switched on for this BB?

Utter nonsense. The 'Strict Nurses' forum I sometimes frequent doesn't have one either. I did ask for one (a forum not a strict nurse) and was told to undress and sandwich my lovespuds between a bag of frozen peas and a scalding hot water bottle.

Oh. I didn't realise no-one else could see the 'Send a Message' links. It must be because I'm an admin. I've therefore enabled them for 'Members'. See if that helps. If anyone really thinks they shouldn't be enabled, let me know and I will disable them again. _______________ Electric bikes are great. Bill, this system send an email to other members, so allowing them to know their email address. I have no problems with this myself but would understand if others are not so happy.
I prefer the use of messaging within the forum so any one can send private messages to other members without having to use email at all.

Well, you only reveal your email address to them when you send them the message. You don't know their email address unless they reply to your email. I think that's fair. Please correct me if I have this wrong. I certainly don't want to be revealing email addresses to all and sundry. _______________ Electric bikes are great.
