Hello peeps,
I'm trying to find a good route from Briton Ferry, through Swansea, and out towards Llanelli. My son lives in Ferryside and I'd like to ride over sometime.
I'm not familiar with Swansea (apart from shopping unfortunately!), so I don't know the best/safest/quickest route through.
If someone could send me directions/gps files or even show me the way one day, I'd be eternally grateful..... well, maybe not eternally grateful, but I would like it very much.
Thanks.

Hi Andrew, Myself and shirley knott (kev) ride that way quite often, i will let you know the next time we are heading there.
Kev lives in the ferry too.
We usually head over the ferry bridge and use the cycle track down to swansea marina, then continue along seafront to clyne gardens (opp kids paddling pool+junction caff), then follow cycle path for its full length which brings you out into gowerton. from there you will find signs for llanelli/millenium cycle path which eventually gets you to pembrey.
As far as im aware its all roadwork from pembrey to ferryside (well signposted).
We normally add a loop into the ride from llanelli which does go thru ferryside but in a round about way, altough you would be adding an extra 10miles or so on. its all on more cycle track/lanes tho.
Total distance for full ride back to ferry is 75miles. _______________ Carpe Diem.

Fixie, thanks for that.
I knew about the clyne valley link but have never ridden it. From the map it looks a longer route than the ones I was considering, but if you recommend it I'll give it a try.
I'm not ready to do 75 + miles yet, so perhaps I'd do maesteg to llanelli and back first.

Obviously there are numerous routes you could take, the one we use just makes good use of the available cycle tracks. 95% of ride is traffic free.
Plus it passes the all important "cafe stops". _______________ Carpe Diem.

Come to think of it I could do that ... and several other members too !!!
Maybe you could join us at the second club room this Friday. _______________ Supporting the club that supports you
