PTW

Pip, Little John and myself were on our way back from Ewenny Cafe yesterday dinner time. We were down the A48 and about to turn right at the mini roundabout at the bottom of barn hill when Johns bike flipped over and he landed hard on the floor. I missed his head by a whisker. Pip phoned for an ambulance as John wasnt looking to good and complained of his hip hurting, so we didnt move him until the paramedic arrived. After an examination John was up on his feet with help and was put into the ambulance to be taken to Bridgend Hospital where he had stitches on his arm and a big plaster on his knee. Apart from that hes battered and bruised but told me on my wife on the phone he was ok otherwise. He even mananged to get to his Brothers daughters funeral and went to the wake afterwards ( not sure if he got drunk but who could blame him). I thought his chain was the cause of the accident but when Pip looked at the look shoe plates they were very worn and thin. No cars were involved although a rather large traffic jam built up. A van stopped and were very helpfull and stayed until the ambulance went. We cant remeber the name of the plumbing company or phone number because as pip said it would have been nice to phone them up. I'm sure this wont deter John from cycling
Also well done to Pip has he was on the ball and handled the whole situation very well. Mustnt forget Dave Crowley who was driving past and stopped. He took Johns bike back to To his home, so well done davey. Thanks to my wife who drove down to see if she could help aswell.I was in shock and a little upset has John only had a hip replacement 5 years ago and has recently been having some problems with that and his back. So a very worrying time due sensitivity of his back problems. John asked if his helmet was allright lol and I quote from John " I'm glad I didnt have my best bike out" Although his TRaining bike looked ok.

Update on Little John, spoke to Jen this morning ,he, feeling stiff(lucky fella). nothing broken , swollen knee ,but otherwise o. k.,I,ll call down to see him later on today.. Many thanks must go to the van driver who stopped to give assistance, as no legs said we failed to take the name or phone no of the van driver , but i did thank him personally at the scene.

Update on Johns bike. Slight buckle to rear wheel and cones very loose. Pedal scraped but otherwise bike ok. Little John maybe out on wednesday ride on best bike with new cleats fitted to shoes.

Hes got an infection in his knee and is on Anti biotics so he maybe out of action for a few days while it clears up. Theres hell of mess on his leg. real bad bruising.

Send my best wishes to John, Stevie Davis told me of his accident when he rode up to see me the other day. No-Legs, I'm sure I passed you with some other riders about 11ish last Wednesday in Corntown? I was driving back to Barry in the 'Bike Doc wagon' after dropping the nipper off at my folks in Porthcawl.
