Hi Guys your man at the coal face reporting great things from Squadra Chrono.

4 riders took part in todays 100 mile time trial which consists of 3 thirty plus mile loops of the A40 between Abergavenny and Monmouth.

Excellent rides by Hugh Davies, Andy Evans and Rod Hicks resulted in them winning the team award (Subject to confirmation) Their times were

Hugh Davies 4 hrs 5 mins and 58 seconds
Rod Hicks 4 hrs 8 mins and 35 seconds
Andy Evans 4 hrs 9 mins and 21 seconds

Congratulations Welsh Champions

For myself had a bit of a problem as I snapped a rear spoke at the start  . I did lean down and release the caliper and carried on. Going up the dual carriageway after 5 miles I put my inability to peddle a gear down to my holiday last week and the excesses in the vino section of Somerfields in Tenby. I new I was creeping as I couldn't put it in the big ring but I thought "serves me right and I'm just going to carry on as punishment for the good time I had last week"

It wasn't until I stopped after the finish that I realised how much my back brake was rubbing and that i physically couldn't turn it by hand  So my time of 4 hrs 43 minutes and 55 seconds ( a personal best) didn't look too bad really.......... Now thats what I call good training for a 12.... :P

It was a great day for TT-ing! I must win the prize for some of the oddest looks from feeders / and the general public that day though!
Having strategically placed my extra bottles behind a lamp post at the top of the hill in Raglan (great idea I thought) I arrived at the HQ late and requiring an urgent visit to the toilet! All things done, I changed and rode off to the start at great speed - to find I had only 1 overshoe and 1 glove on! so I raced back to the car to get the additions to my racing atire and got to the start in good time. My feeding strategy was to do 800ml per lap so I'd only have to stop once for refuelling. so I got to the top of Raglan hill having practiced my bottle change in my head a milloin times, I rolled up, dismounted, got my foot stuck and fell straight in to the hedge! to the amusement of everyone around! Fool I thought! Back on the bike and about 48 miles in I needed the loo again - Plan B was to stop in the public convenience on the route to Monmouth. After a careful dismount this time, I hurtled in to the toilet only to go flying on the slippery floor - again to the amusement of a fellow user! picture it - scantily clad man in lycra on hands and knees in public convenience!!! dont go there! Needles to say I was good to go for the rest of the day. At about 60 miles in I had a strange feeleing that this was all too easy and I was right on my game....Then a few miles later the man with the hammer visited me and brought me right down to earth! Fool again!
Anyway, 4 riders, 4 PB's, welsh team Champs - I think a good day was had by all!
