Since the story of our trip to Guernsey by tandem last October was so well received, here is a picture of our trusty tandem in Rathbarry, County Cork last Tuesday:

We cannot recommend the Post Offices in Southern Ireland enough, and in particular the ones in Ardfield and Rathbarry. The first was also a grocery store and pub, and it's the sort of place that when we asked if they did sandwiches the proprietor ran off to fetch a loaf and some suitably improvised ingredients.

The PO in Rathbarry also has a grocery store, a musem and a peacock. You couldn't make it up.

We didn't travel by train this time, so no hair-raising stories. Instead we had to take the car ferry to Rosslare, and then drive another 150 miles on the other side. Would have been the Swansea-Cork, but the buggers have decided not to restore the service until next year.

Bearing in mind the rain the tandem had to endure on the roof-rack, our trusty tandem could soon be a rusty tandem. Coming back the rain was biblical last Saturday :(

Nice picture Bill. At a guess, taken at about quarter-past one?

Err, the EXIF data on the JPEG says it was taken at 16:04, and the camera appears to be 33 mins fast, therefore about 3:30pm is my best guess. Any reasons for the Poirot impersonation?

I was looking at the shadow on the right-hand side and guessing "just past mid-day plus one hour for BST".

Not quite "exactemente" (but I do have the moustache).
