You'll be pleased to know that Squadra Chrono were out in force at the Bynea CC weekend at Llandovery.

On Friday evening, Jeff Bruce Won the PTW El Vino Cup with a superb performance and also cleaned up in the cafe - throwy uppy competition at Rhandirmwyn on Saturday Morning. ;)

Spot, Martyn Edwards and I were in contention for the El Vino cup and we all easily completed the time element but unfortunately lost out when it came to volume. 8)

Sadly in the throwy uppy competition no one else stood up to the plate and Jeff ran out the easy winner but then again Martyn was too busy setting up the Edwards residential home for the needy to worry about his own well being. He is a hero (or maybe its Anne)

Once we'd returned to Llandovery the serious stuff commenced and the smell of embrocation was strong throughout the campsite. The course is lumpy to say the least and those with false teeth be warned the road surface is so bad CTT advice is not to wear dentures. After 3 miles I thought My bike had broke, as everything that can rattle was rattling.......you need ear defenders when you ride on parts of the course and an aero helmet is good but its not that good.......

A strong headwind out meant you had to smash yourself to the turn in the hope that the wind would push you back home Pip and Tud were out on the course resplendant in t shirt, Jeans, Sandals and martin Edwards bike??? found a particularly nasty hill with an especially bad surface to offer words of support and encouragement.....

It seemed to work as James Lewis did a storming ride recording 23:01 for eventual 2nd place, Spot (his suntanned legs dispelling the myth that "No I haven't been doing much";) zipped around in 24:10. Nigel Pitt recorded 25:22, I recorded 25:24 and Vernon Davies recorded 27:24.

Andrew Butcher of Cwmcarn Paragon won in 22:29.

Saturday Evening came and went and with an early start on Sunday morning El Vino II came and went with a wimper. Evening preparations went well however with Glyndwr Lewis' Snoring keeping the campsite awake and Ken Washington Apparently in shares for the weekend, taking the blame......)

In the Sunday morning 25mile TT, three of Squadra Chrono had entered and Spot, Vernon and myself reported for duty. Clearly tired after Friday nights exploits in the El Vino cup, followed up by a night of walking Iori around Llandovery, Spot recorded a DNF so it was left to Vernon and myself to carry the PTW banner. Vernon was first back recording a 1:7:59 and I returned in a 1:3:35.

The event was won by Daniel Thorougood of Ystwyth CC in 56:09

All in all a great weekend......

Nice report Les and well done on your rides (quicker than I ever did there - mind you, I am famous for kopping for a train on an evening MD 25 once).
