snippets of news has reached me that on todays end to end while sprinting for the PRIME at Llandovery, C.J. crashed

Can any one tell us the IMPORTANT facts first ..... Had C.J. crossed the line BEFORE he crashed ... and had he won ?

Apparently he has broken his collar bone .. and had to be air lifted to Morriston hospital.

If this is true, Hope its not too serious Chris, and make a swift recovery

D o not know yet for definate whether CJ has broken his collarbone,he has a few cuts and grazes as well, i left the hospital at 3.45 pm and he was just going for an x ray then ,i will post further info when i get it

so did he win the sprint ?

I didn't actually witness the tumble, apparently, he bounced ok, but went for height rather than distance, so, no he didn't win the prime. Infact no-one won the prime,coz CJ was lying on the prize money and nobody had the heart to roll him onto his side to retrieve it from his jersey pocket.

Just an update, spoke to Cj at 6.30 pm, it looks as if the collar bone is gone ,he has to return to the hospital tomorrow to see the surgeons ,to find out how the are going to proceed , i.e. plating the bone or not

You're all too soft ! Rest assured , C.J. would have rolled you over !!!

Just spoken to him, he's out of hospital, feeling bruised and battered, and has to go back to see an orthopaedic surgeon tomorrow.

All I can say is that time moved in very slow motion!

I was acting as lead out man for the train, sustaining about 27-29mph, but had been backing them up a bit as we approached the final bend before the sprint (down to a mere 22mph). I knew that everyone was gearing up for the sprint because no-one was coming past me.

Next thing I know CJ launches an attack on my right hand side, a bit earlier than I expected but doubtless part of his tactical masterplan. Unfortunately from what I was told later he might have hit a cats-eye and went down hard. Both of his wheels then slid along the road and under mine. I was starting to look for a nice soft place to land, but somehow I rode over them and yet stayed upright. Goodness only knows how.

Commiserations to CJ. A broken collar bone is definitely worse than my crash last May. He'll have to use his phone left-handed for some time

and 'chapeau' to Bill for having cat-like reactions and good bike-handling skills (or was it sheer good luck?).

I hope he makes a speedy recovery. Did he have an air ambulance?

Just because me, Griff and Striker came off and got a bit of Gravel Rash last week you did'nt have to go one better and break something.......

By the way, in my official status as Club Secretary do I just forward any claims for repairing the highway to the office or your home address?.......

After waiting and waiting and waiting (what happened to 8 mins?) both ambulances arrived at pretty much the same time, one of them the famed flying version.

Then after several minutes prodding CJs neck, he was finally allowed to get up off the road (where he'd been forcibly held on his back for pretty much an hour) and loaded into the boring old terrestrial ambulance, and got to go to A&E the bumpy way. I would imagine they save the Air Ambulance for bona fide neck injuries.

It's a pity (and I mean this for CJ in particular) that we don't have a quicker way to give people the neck-injury all clear, but these days you have to wait for the first official paramedic to turn up. As luck would have it the car immediately behind us when we crashed contained a nurse and a serving Battlefield Paramedic, but he wasn't official enough.

Sorry to hear about the collar bone Chris, hope you have a speedy recovery but the worst thing is it's your drinking arm collar bone!! Brucy tells me that you have been known to use the other arm, especially when on chasers, so perhaps not all is lost. Take care and hope to see you back on the bike soon.

Really? I see. When we left he was sitting in the ambulance, so I guess they must have transferred him. There's posh.
