Well things are looking tight as we go into crit season with the points broken down as follows:
Charliefummi, after a strong and early start on the assault of the trophy quickly racked up some points at Thruxton Motor racing circuit that rocketed him into an impressive lead before the racing had even started in Wales! He followed this up with a top 10 at Castle Coombe on Good Friday that has given him 20 points and elevated him from 4th to 3rd cat. Since then his aggressive riding style has not yielded any points, but the hunger is still there. Will he recapture that points grabbing magic, or will his new found MTB enthusiasm mean the road points go to someone else?!
James ‘The Tank’ Lewis has stormed up into second place with a couple of big results in eh last few weeks. It was looking like a shaky start for James initially, a few DNFs and bad luck meant he hadn’t picked up many points from the start of the season, but as crit season started so to did his big engine. An impressive 3rd in an elite Castle Coombe race and a 3rd in the elite Pembrey race last week has meant he smashes his way into 2nd place with 30 points.
Leading the way at the moment is our very own (and reigning champion!) Davey C with 40 points. After a winter of doing bugger all on the bike, he started his season slowly, timing his efforts well, slowly climbing the ladder of results and constantly placing in races. A few close calls with a win and some consistent riding have seen Davey go from 3rd cat to 2nd in the space of 2 months. Can he maintain this lead now that he is forced to ride with the big boys? Will his head fall off again after one too many soakings out training?
