CLUB 10

A well-timed break in the rain (and the light) saw five riders start on a calm but gloomy evening on the R10/22 at Resolven. Chris Allen made a mockery of the impromptu seeding by holding off Sweep and Rod Hicks dipped under the '22' (as predicted by Pip). Within a few minutes of finishing the rain started back up so we had some luck tonight!

1. Rod Hicks 21:55

2. Jayson James 23:16

3. Chris Allen 23:30 PB

4. Hugh Davies 23:31

5. Bill Gannon DNF

Special thanks to Chris Allen for driving down to assist Bill Gannon who (presumably) punctured.

Yeah, I punctured.

Then I had to walk a mile in cycling shoes (never fun), then, having repaired the tyre, I realised the inner-tube was bulging out of the sidewall. Made it home, but that piece of glass or whatever I ran over cost me an evening, a good time, an inner tube, a pair of cleats (probably) and trashed a brand new tyre!

Sorry to hear that Bill but it serves you right for not using 32mm Marathon+ tyres.

The new tyres for my SuperGalaxy are Marathon Plusses ;)

Even the guy in the shop said 'You don't need those, I've been using basic Marathons and haven't had a puncture in 18 months'. Basic Marathons, hah! Sometimes I've had two punctures a week. I must have an affinity for them.

The new plusses are supposed to be bomb proof, but I haven't got to use them yet because they blew the rim to pieces. Jeff is ordering some new wheels for me with 36 spoke Mavic rims that are described as 'massively strong'. Looking forward to getting my proper bike working again.
