Hi Alfie, as one of the "newer" members whats the score with the open 10?

Basically, it's the same format as a club 10 but 'open' to all riders from clubs affiliated to CTT (Cycling Time Trials) which makes it a bigger event (max. 120 riders) and you get the opportunity to mix it with riders from other clubs. Also, as these rides are more formal you'll have proper timekeepers and marshalls with result boards, jolly catering ladies persons, prize money, etc.

Personally, I could never get myself motivated for club events and much preferred Open events.

I was about to enter on-line, but the CTT site security is unacceptable to me, so I cannot. I have therefore sent an email to Keith Lawton, but I doubt anything will be done about it. They will probably just write me off as a pedant.

To all those who might enter a time-trial online using the CTT website, please be aware that your credit card details will be permanently stored by a 3rd party company. This company is called Regonline, which is part of Active Network. If you choose to allow them to do this, feel free. I choose not to.

I will get a cheque in the post tomorrow, but please accept my entry in the meantime. Sorry I am late and not a new member, but what can I do? I was still in Poland two days ago.

Still a bit 'light' on offers of help. So far, I have;

Anne & Mandy (Catering)

Martyn and Spot (Marshalling)

I think Gary had forgotten that he'd entered so I'm still looking for a signage hero plus pushers and more marshalls.

The reason you're short of help is that there are 21 riders for the PTW in that start list, myself included (oops). Dear Record Breakers, is this a record?

Sad we get fewer than 10 turning out to the Club events, but there's time yet. I remember 4 years ago when people would turn up to a Club event and NOT get any points because they didn't finish in the top 20...

Is there anything we can do to spice up the Club 10's, or are they just for training? Discuss.

Again, as i mentioned in another subject earlier, back in the days (the 90's) i can remember the amount of riders we had turning out for club activities like the clubrun on a saturday, and take note i mentioned the club "run" and not the club"runs"!!! aswell as the following day for the epic 6 hour + rides that we all loved and then thursdays when 20 riders would most weeks cram in to the layby for the "lsv" course or the r10/20 further up the valley. Sorry if it seems like im always barkin on bout the same subject but if you were a wheelers in the 90's you would fully understand. And b4 u point out that i myself have not been at the club 10s i have been trainin on the track and have already pointed out that its a issue that most midweek events seem to be on either a tuesday or thursday which class with our organised events too

I see Chris Jones's name down twice! Ooops.

Because of the number of PTW's I had to re-jig the field repeatedly to avoid the following rider from the same club rule.

OK that's brilliant.

I've just written 75 envelopes in one hour. My wrist hasn't ached like that since I was 15...

Gave Gary a lift to the Abertillery 25 today and he still thinks he's doing the signage despite the fact he's racing. just for info he said it only takes me an hour and a half in the morning.....

You'll have to discover the printable address label, Alf. Let the printer take the strain. 8) Then, ideally, you get everyone to type their own addresses in themselves when they enter the event, and you won't have to type anything either. Cunning. Of course, if I hadn't got myself engrossed in a nice argument with CTT over retention of credit card details, you might have had my address electronically.

For what it's worth I got a reply back from Active Network saying that details are only stored for 90 days, and they claim that neither the Event Director nor the developers have access to the card numbers themselves. That would be fine, but that's not what it says in their Privacy Policy! I guess you can tell that I've developed e-commerce sites myself, so I know what some vendors get up to...
