After being AWOL from the ride for some time due to spending most of our Sundays in one swimming pool or t'other with the eldest girl. Myself, the present Mrs R and the girls managed to get up to Afan Argoed last Sunday, albeit a few minutes late. We set off about 10.45 and headed towards Glyncorrwg, all was going well apart from the odd mumble from Sian, about how " my legs are tired", when all of a sudden Sian changed the tune to "my tires going down, on close inspection so it was, all down to a thread bare tyre  and a bit o'gravel. It was then that the reality of the situation struck us, " bolt on wheels!" I exclaim, An exclamation that went soaring over everyone elses heads, "So!" was the coral like reply. Wellllllll, said I with as much dignity as I could muster, I ain't got any spanners! :x
So a bit of leg work and I was back at Afan Argoed, bike in the van and hot wheeled it back to the Refresh, tube quickly mended and piece of cardboard over the hole in the tyre, we continued our journey up to Glyncorrwg and the ever beckoning brick and a cup o'coffee. On our arrival at the montain bike centre, we noticed two PTWCC kit clad riders leaving via the path past the ponds, we only caught their backs so I coudn't quite see who it was. Anyway a 20 minute sit down and as I say a piece  of toast and a coffee and we set off on the home leg back to the Refresh. What a cracking day for a liesurely ride in some of the most beautiful mountain vistas in the world. ;)

Hi Rob and welcome to the forum.

Nice to know that you're flying the flag by wearing club kit!

Thanks Alf,

More dragging the club colours than flying except on the final downhill section "Darkside", thats amazing, but only too pleased to do our bit.
Even had the road bike out this week, that made a good change.
