PTW

Well its day 2 in Majorca and after a bloody trauma with overweight bike boxes and idiot Spanish bus drivers we arrived yesterday, finding it superhot so got the bikes built up and myself and Stevo embarked on an easy 20 miler, heading off towards Old Pollensa just to get the legs going and to have a spot of lunch. Today started off overcast so took the gillet, knee and armwarmers and thank god I did, the plan was to go to Petra, via Manacor and we actually did 50 miles before hitting Petra with the weather getting steadily worse. We ended up sitting in Petra square using the sun shade as a brolly, it was p***ing down! And it continued to p**s down the whole of the 25 miles back to Pollensa, but we were on it, which was surprising as neither of us have any form Here´s hopeing the weather improves tomorrow. Luckily our hotel is right next to the Mulligans, the Irish pub, so if it is raining tomorrow..........

Still wish I was there, what ever the weather!!

Well its day 4 and just stumbled back to the hotel from Mulligans, hic! Yesterday the weather was still pretty dismal but we ventured out later in the day and headed for Soller with a bit of climbing in mind, but as we climbed out of Pollensa it got steadily colder and I decided that the best course of action was to turn around! So I ended up bowling back to the resort in the rain and managed 24 miles lol and I was knackered. Steve in his wisdom decided to carry on up the climb and the next time I saw him was around 5 hours later, clinging onto life with tales of sheltering in a digger cab and also standing around an open fire up in the cabin, I think he managed about an extra 2 miles lol! Today I did a fast loop, heading out to Pollensa, then Sa Pobla, then heading back to Alcudia and home, about 28 miles in strong winds and threatening downpours, Steve had the day off the bike to try and recover from the previous day. The weather was much better this evening, I had at least 5 minutes in the sun, so fingers crossed for tomorrow Oh and last nite we had Paella in Tolo´s, got to be done

Well finally realised how unfit I was today when I struggled up Formentor! I don´t think its much tougher than three step hill is it? Well bowled back down it and realised I was very close to a hotel the PTW stayed at in the 90´s, Playa Mar, anyone remember that? Ah memories, two weeks away and big miles every day, maybe the odd loose woman too! Well the weathers improved this evening, so fingers crossed for a decent ride tomorrow, maybe sample Petra in the sun Probably won´t get a ride in Sunday as I want to watch Roubaix and Tolo´s is the place to see it. Bumped into a rider in Welsh kit on the seafront today, apparently there are about 20 Ajax riders in the Pollensa Park, the Welsh are gonna kick some Kraut arse in this resort

Back in Wales and finally some sun lol! Probably the crapiest week of weather ever in Majorca, bloody monsoon weather last nite, if it wasn't tied down it was airborne, lost some of my kit that was drying on the balcony in the day, it was blown god knows where?! I still managed 235 miles for the week, which is 200 more than I would have done at home lol. Steve managed a bit more venturing into the mountains, the fool! He bumped into Emma Pooley up on the Puy, she was getting a bit of training in with Cambridge CC. Pics attached to prove we were there Steve bless him still thinks his top is current club kit
