8.10 a.m, saw me on the road, to try and get in a couple o'miles before meeting the club run at 10. That done it was the plaza for 9.55, just coming off the by-pass, I met up with Vernon and we cycled over to the Plaza. 15 riders left the Plaza (the majority of which were clad in club jerseys) on a beautiful spring morning, Afan way, Fabian way, Clyne valley cycle path, Gowerton, Loughor, Millenium cycle path ( much to some peoples annoyance) :x , "Oh my forking tyres" and " I thought about watching the Paris - Roubaix, I didn't think I'd be riding part of it" were but two of many remonstrations heard for the first couple of untarmacced miles and "let's find a farmyard to ride through was another", anyway after a couple of the lads had turned in Loughor and Andy Smith turned just after the roughest part of the cycle path, Andy Lewis decided to puncture on the smoothest bit of tarmac we'd ridden on all day. After a bit of Russian roulette with a new tube and an already punctured tube that Andy had put in his pocket, he attempted to inflate the good tube with what he said was a duff pump that Spot had volunteered, then along came Les and saved everyones sanity with a pump that inflated the tyre, It was quite funny coz Spot defended his pump from there, all the way to the cafe ( we was only teasing ewe Spot ) ;) . Leaving the cafe we Said tara to Striker and he headed off to Hendy, then Swansea side of Loughor bridge we said tara to Andy Lewis and Nine of us came back down clyne valley and as we got onto Oystermouth road Spot snapped his chain and the bunch split. Three of us WAITED for Spot and after he mended the chain we time trialled all the way to Jersey Marine where we said tara to Martin, who perchance was meeting Mrs Edwards in the Glamorgan for a spot of tiffin. Then twas up o'er the Ferry bridge and home for me and a little 3 miler left for Pip and Spot. All in all a good ride on a good day with good company! :D

Well, tank and myself defected and both decided to join the cardiff pose of jiff and ajax at maindy today. Wispers of their club run tackling both the rhigos and bwlch couldnt keep us away !!!. We left maindy in a group of aprox 20 riders and headed up the valley to pontypridd and planed to head to hirwaun via abercynon but a mis turning took us through merthyr and up to penderyn moors at an average of over 20mph. We took a left and up'ed the pace all the way to hirwaun then started to ride the rhigos, trying to hold the wheel of the elder rowe brother matt !!! i gave it a good shot but admited defeat early on but made sure i got to the top in front of most of the cardiff lads to do ptwcc prowd, tank however had been up the rhigos the day before after vernons 10 and made his way to the top at his own pace !!, but every one give the lad respect for tackling the monster of the rhigos 2 days in a row. Anyway, thankfully, as we had detoured via merthyr and then, the penderyn moors a desision was made to head straight back towards cardiff from treorchy (thank god !!). Through and off all the way back made sure we all had a work out and when arriving back to mainday an average of 20mph was recorded for 4 hours totaling to 80miles !!!!!! now thats the way a sunday clubrun should be !!!!!!!

Support the club that supports you is MY monicker Kev !!

Nice report though.

I gotta say, It filled me with pride to be out with such a big group and all wearing PTW kit.

Ironic that as we get close to a new kit, so many were actually wearing the club jerseys. And of the only three NOT wearing PTW kit , one was the captain and another was a life member :P :P

I may cause a few upsets here but why is it frowned upon when riders from other clubs join our club run, but clubs like Jif and Ajax dont seem to have a problem of PTW going there.?
Member
Dave, just to put the record straight the club does not have a problem with members of other clubs joining their rides ,the issue came about because certain people were coming out ,not being members of any club, they were asked to join on several occasions, but declined to do so,,

No!, the point is, joining other clubs Sunday rides and advertising the fact on this site.
