Well me, james and dave ventured up to castle coombe for the annual good friday meeting, leaving sunny south wales it looked as if we'ed have a nice day racing but as crossing the severn bridge the weather took a turn for the worst. Anyway we got there absolutly teeeeeming it down which i my self wernt realy bothered about i always look at things on a positive note atleast i wouldnt have to reach down for my bottle to quench my thirst just open my mouth and take a spray full of oily water off some ones back wheel !!, how ever "pretty boy" was liveing up to his name and now was looking rather dijected with what kit to wear for the wet conditions !!!. My self and dave rode in the 3rd cat race, as it started i set the pace to make sure i was at the front throught the first couple of oil slicked chicanes, after it all settled down then dave covered the attatcks like a true team worker as i was finding my self towards the back of the 120 rider bunch which wasnt by choice but through my lack of experiance, so i gave my self a slap round the head and made my way up to the top 15 where me and dave could both cover the attacks. 3 riders managed to get away and and the bunh then realy had no idea what to do, a few of us tried to get a chain gange going but to no avail then a bunch of bout 10 riders tried to bridge the gap and left me and dave in the bunch, so i gladly took it upon my self to hit the front hard for 1 and 1/2 laps and do summut bout it, burried myself good and proper and caught the bunch of ten then felt a bit worse for were and as a proper team mate good old dave gave me a push to hold a wheel then i felt tip top again. The whole field managed to catch the break of 3 with 2 to go and it all came doen to a bunch sprint. Pre race id agreed with dave to lead me out, so coming round the last lap i felt like "cav" sat on daves wheel in about 30th making are way though the bunch barging shoulders then something went wrong we were going backwards, i then realised dave had decided it were getting too dangerous !!. Bollox !!!! so i came off his wheel in about 70th like a bullet and took no prisinors cuting throught the bunch not like a hot knife through butter but like a sledge hammer through a brick wall i looked up and i were in the top 10 one last kick then threw my bike forward for 5th thought i had it but i actualy had 7th !! still i were well happy. and felt quite fresh after the sprint only wish id gone earlier then a win was deffo on the cards.

James rode in the e,1,2.. i missed the first couple of laps but when i came to watch he were half lap down taken of the back by a chippenham chipper !!, when the feild came round to catch him though he got back in a looked comfortable, and considering the pace looked a lot bloody faster than out race fair does to the tall mofo !!

Great report! Can't really add anymore than what C Boyo has already written. Very dodgy out there with a 200 strong bunch of varying abilities going through those corners but Charles pulled out an epic kamikaze style srpint to get through them at then end! Port Talbot were always near the front and represented well.

James did well in a quality field, and I thnk we all had a good day out.

When I'm back in work on Tuesday I'm going to try to work that phrase into my annual appraisal.
