I've been keeping an eye on the Nationals this week, and what struck me was that ordinary (ish!) club cyclists have walked away with national medals in a country where we hold the world record for the Team Pursuit etc, and are in fact the most successful track cycling nation in the world.
Now that got me thinking - if they can do it, why can't we? So my question is - are there any riders out there who are prepared to contest both the Welsh Champs and Nationals next year as a team pursuit squad? We would have to start thinking about this now, with a view to start informal track training soon. Nothing too heavy, but the odd drill here and there, a bit of training and tightening up etc.
So far I can think of a few canfdidates, namely myself , James Lewis, Andy James, Andy Evans, Spot, sho are more than capable of putting out the power.
Just a thought to gauge interest. Any thoughts or comments? _______________ The Force is strong in this one... « Last edit by Davey C on Wed Sep 24, 2008 11:52 am. »

Agreed Chips, all of the above would be great for the pursuit. Charles - if you're reading this think you could put out a bit of wattage also!
If there are to be track training sessions it would be an ideal time to try it out with some 'dry runs'. _______________ The Force is strong in this one...

I certainly would not call Tud a long shot, on a serious note this is a great idea, and trials could be carried out on track sessions,if the sponsors decide to put any on, the club would have to show more interest than they did this year.

Glad to see we've got a bit of interest!! Will try and speak to some of the people named on the list asap! It is of course by no means a closed list - anyone is welcome to try their hand.
If the club do organise track sessions I think that will be the time to conduct a few dry runs, with as many of those concerned as possible. For those that are willing and committed I suggest that we start getting up to the Velodrome to attend drop in sessions or track leagues as soon as possible.
Out of curiosity - who is Simon Richardson riding for next year?! _______________ The Force is strong in this one...

Yep dave, count me in, bit of incentive to get the miles in over the winter, i dont know if ill benefit the team with my "watage?!?!?", but the draft my big fat arse could create will deffinatly aid the recovery of each rider when there on my wheel
