Hi Alf, from what age are these rides going to be suitable for and do any new comers need to be club members or does the 3 ride rule apply?

Hi Kev - I'm not really sure but understand that the committee are looking into the insurance aspects.
Personally, I believe that the 12-year and up age rule should apply but also that there should be a total relaxation on insisting on club membership, certainly until the end of the year. But, hey, that's not my call. _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character). |

Relaxing the membership on potential new members gives them a chance to see if they want to pursue fast club rides. A 3 month trial period would be good

The 12year and up age rule would exclude us, shame coz my two are quite keen, never mind maybe next year!unless the terrain lends itself to tandems?Who will be leading the rides?(and before anybody starts,I know who's the leader of China)!

The new ride is aimed at new starters and families Kev.
We have also been accepted today for British Cycling's go ride scheme that we will be implementing in early October- For children 8-16. A benefit of the scheme is that we get 100 free BCF memberships for our children in that age group. With regards adults, obviously there is no requirement for immediate membership, until such time that they are happy to ride on a regular basis. Also by that time we will have 2 members who will be undertaking a level II coaching qualification. The qualification is again designed to teach youngsters the basic skills required to give them confidence. So: Initially there will be a get together for everyone who is interested at the Afan Fforest Centre and I forsee some riding the cyclepath, me & Mrs Edwards included and others braving some of the sterner challanges. We have some keen mountain bikers in the club who I know will be more than happy to lead the way. Bring the girls along Kev it will be great to see you all. ![]() _______________ Pain is only temporary - Quitting is for ever ........ Lance Amstrong |

My son would be interested in mountain riding MArtin (and me). What sort of mountain biking though? Normal tracks can be used by entry level bikes but the real heavy stuff needs a pucker bike. Good to see the club moving in a direction to get more youngsters and families involved. Hopefully it will eventually get the youngsters onto road bikes. SO well done PTWCC

Hi Paul
Don't mean to be a killjoy but for the first few weeks - probably until early October children will need to be accompanied by an adult for insurance purposes. If your lad is going to come along without you riding, can you please ensure that you arrange for someone to be responsible for him. If you need to speak to me regarding this please phone me on 07912 162453 ![]() _______________ Pain is only temporary - Quitting is for ever ........ Lance Amstrong |
