Race Report from your man in the field:
Well after much cajoling by James Lewis today was the first race of the season for me. It was a PTWCC team of 2 that made the trip to Abergavenny today to contest the above race. Consisting of an enthusastic JL and a hesitant but 'lead by example' philosophising Davey C. After Pip seinor managed to start his new car, (no easy task - the inside resembles the starship enterprise) we were on our way. THe usual faffing around and the start, many nervous glances by me at the approaching rain clouds and we were away. And Christ I'd forgoten how much racing hurts. Having done about 200miles this winter I knew I was in for a hard time but figured as I had dropped Dave Abbott on stormy the days previously I could cope with anything. This was not to be, and I picked myself out a nice spot on the back of the bunch, where I stayed for the rest of the race. (bar the odd accidental turn on the front).
James had a different tact however, and decided our group was too easy, so he dropped back to the scratch group. So it continued until 2miles to go, when the rain fell, and so did my morale, having managed to avoid the rain all winter. I sulked across the line at the back of the bunch, thoroughly annoyed I had got my white bar tape dirty. The scratch group, JL included, rolled across the line seconds later, unable to make it across.
Anyway, it's a start, now that I have cleaned my bike and kit I'm looking forward to the next one. (after checking the long range weather forecast that is...) 8)
