Is it me or has our separate club events website gone to seed?

Shame because it was an excellent site before.

Well, what I have been told is that a decision was taken not to publish the results after a certain point. I was therefore not able to put them up, since I never received them, which is a pity because I set a new PB in one of them

We shall see what happens this year, but my personal opinion is that if we don't publish all the results, then there is no point in publishing any results.

No decision was made about last years club events. What happened was that a couple of the later timekeepers didn't get their sheets back to me in time, then I was away and before we had all the info together, we already had a clear winer of the events competition.
This year hopefully ALL the timekeepers will be prompt in their duties.

Don't know which timekeeper it was, but someone had still got a set of numbers and timing sheets. Can you please let me know who you are OR get them back to me soon.

Actually, it looked to me like Andrew Evans was going to win, so long as he completed 4 of the remaining 8 events. Perhaps, then, it's time to open a debate on how many results should count towards this year's TT Trophy?

I took a unilateral decision last year to reduce that from 15 down to 10, although since it's the Unofficial results website, nothing that is displayed there is binding unless the committee says so. This year it looks like there are 17 events, so best 15 counting is getting even more inappropriate.

To use 2005 as an example, there were 20 events, with participation thus:

20 events: 1 PTW rider completed all 20 events
17+ events: 2 PTW riders completed 17 or more events
15+ events: 4 riders
14+ events: 5 riders
11+ events: 6 riders
8+ events: 9 riders
7+ events: 11 riders
6+ events: 15 riders

Therefore with 15 events counting towards the trophy, only 4 riders were in contention. Reduce that to 10 events, and maybe we would encourage all the riders that did 7 or 8 events to do a few more, and then we could have 11 riders in contention, which seems a lot healthier to me.

It would also free up those riders who turn out week after week, whatever the weather, to take part in the odd 2, 3 or 4 UP without scuppering their chances in the trophy. As it stands, it's just forcing riders to be anti-social, and depriving the club of a valuable chance to practice its TTT skills.

Finally, IMO the trophy should be awarded to the fastest time-trialler, not the person with the best attendance record. We already have a trophy for that - it's called The Club Run Trophy. If only one person does 15 events this year, we will be in great danger of achieving that.

Therefore, votes please:

How many results from this year's 17 events should count towards the 2008 Club TT Trophy?

a) 15?
b) 12?
c) 10?
d) 8?

We have a couple of months to make a decision.

Thanks Bill and Chips. Glad to see the website hasn't been abandoned, as it was a great tool and asset to the main website.

As for the points raised, I completely agree with Bill, the amount should be reduced. You miss a couple because of bad weather etc and straight away the season long competition is out of reach. I'm in favour of 8 events counting.
