I just wondered who buys all the bits and pieces for a bike to build themselves eg frame, groupset etc.
I have built 3 bikes myself including a Jeff Bruce, a Giant TCR and the latest one last year was a MAssi compact frame. I used a Veloce groupset, Kysyrium wheelset ( middle range), massi frame, forks and headset and some nice Millenium Bars, stem and seat post. I sold it and made a profit. Was going to use it myself but decided otherwise.
I'm about to embark on a TCR build project. Seen a nice frame on Ebay. I may keep this one though as I am getting a bit fed up of MOuntain bikes

Well, I'll come out of the closet and admit to being a fettler.

Incredibly, I haven't bought a complete bike since buying my first Jeff Bruce back in 1995 (annoyingly, I was knocked off by some elderly berk by the Twelve Knights on only my second ride on it) although I did buy a Trek a few years but only to immediately strip the gruesome ShimaNO stuff off it and build up the frame with Campag.

I really enjoy building a bike up from a frameset and find most 'off the peg' frames build up very easily. The only thing I never bother with is 'facing' the bottom bracket shell and also the head tube but touch wood (touches own head) this hasn't been a problem.

Good luck with your build project and let's hope this one is a 'keeper'.
