What was it about the 1970's that saw so many brilliant Christmas songs?
I was going to go for that wild and hairy Jethro Tull 'solstice bells' one or perhaps that Greg Lake one but instead I'm going to go for 'Christmas Rapping' by The Waitresses - pure pop genius.
My least favourite has to be Mariah Carey 'All I want for Christmas is you'.
So how about the rest of you PTW peeps? _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character).

Bah - humbug, I can't stand christmas songs, but if I had to choose one it would be "fairy tale of New York", The pogues and the non pc version at that. The song I most despise, that's always played over Christmas is "imagine, Oh, how I hate that song!.
Could be just you and I again Alf.

Could be. I'm at work and we've had precisely 0 phone calls but the management (bless 'em) have allowed us to finish at 4pm. Merry Christmas!
I've had a rethink. Sorry The Waitresses you've been knocked off (ooh-er missus). What was I doing forgetting about the The Beach Boys classic 'Little Saint Nick'? Awesome harmonies. _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character).

Well, I've just found one corker which almost none of you will remember (I hope). 'Ho Ho Ho' by Elton John, which I have on LP, dated 1973. The chorus goes 'Ho ho ho, Guess who's here. Our fat and jolly friend draws near. Ho Ho Ho, surprise surprise. The bearded weirdy's just arrived.'
