Well done to the lads that completed the long route of the dragon ride:- Martin,Ian,Chris and Andrew,Dispite the weather not being as foul as predicted, someone commented how close it was, so close in fact that one person said he almost touched it at one point, another two disappointing factors were the strange way the feed stations were stocked and positioned, the one that was supposed to be in defynnog wasn't and when it was finally stumbled upon, resembled Mrs hubbards cupboard, bit of a kick in the kahunas after 60+ miles in the saddle, apparently Mrs Edwards saved the day with some hurredly but well prepared sandwiches.I myself failed to complete the 120 mile route, got to Penderyn and thought, nah!, turned around and headed back to Hirwaun and opted for the shorter 84 mile route. Going down the old Glynneath road I rode past Mr V davies with 99.9% of his body sticking out of a hedge, I stopped and waited and we both got back onto the(wot we laughingly call) Sunday club run,"thanks for the tow lads", anyway cimla hill nearly done it for me and the second time up the Bwlch, wow! and passing within a mile of the house TWICE, what a temptation, anyhoo, enjoyed it all the same.

Get yourself a Brooks saddle and a Carradice saddlebag (natch) and fill the saddlebag full of CARBS. Well done to all our Dragoneers - it would be nice to have some ride reports! Another long day in the saddle was had by Striker, who finished the West Wales 100 not long before the heavens opened. I've never seen rain like that before! _______________ "The most important thing in life is not to have the most, but to need the least.” Plato (my favourite Disney character). |

Enjoyed the Dragon yesterday and everyones company. However I would think twice about riding next years event unless I received assurances around the feed stations. The event was extended from 100 to 120 miles this year taking in the Bwlch twice, Rhigos, Penderyn, Defynnog etc. Having company to share the workload helped particularly in the later stages of the day. Typically the last feed station at the foot of the bwlch provided water and a jam tart- pityful.
The event has been extended to compete with some of the European sportif's, without the resources and support needed to make it enjoyable and safe. For the record I think we came in as a group in just under 9hrs. Havent stopped eating since. ![]() _______________ Pain is only temporary - Quitting is for ever ........ Just thought I'd log in to say I'm still alive after talking to myself for 5 1/2 hours in the West Wales 100. I suppose I had it easy compared to the 9 hour boys climbing the mountains in the Dragon.
Thanks to Ann for feeding and to Will and Skippy hovering around like vultures over the last 10 miles, making sure I did n't pack. Roll on the ' 12 ' _______________ Keep on training |

Oooh me legs!
Really enjoyed the dragon Ride on sunday, even though the 2nd & 3rd Feedstations had run out of everything (including water!) and Mrs Price had decided to go shopping instead of meeting me with my bag of goodies! Anyway, rode the first 20 or so miles with the club boys before getting dropped near the top of the (1st) Bwlch. Enjoyed the rest of the route until i hit the 100mile mark at the start of the (2nd) Bwlch - oh dear! Not even the Jam Tart at Feedstation 4 helped as i clawed my way up the hill. But, once out of the way it was plain sailing back to Bridgend where i recieved a "Well Done" from the boys and sat down to share my well-earned chips and tea. I too haven't stopped eating since Pricey |
