this weeks ride was going along just fine until an incident happened that everyone should now be aware of. on the way home between pyle and margam village the group was riding along comfortably when in the other direction a white van was travelling and one of the morons inside decided to throw a heavy duty chain at us. Fortunately for us it only struck me. I actually thought for a second that I had been shot although I was winded when I realized that my wrist was heavily swollen and then realized we got off lucky because none of us came off and it could have been a lot worse. After a nights sleep the full extent of the damage dawned on me as I woke up stiff as a poker. I had a bruise on my wrist, forearm, stomach and inside thigh. It happened so quick that there was no time to get the number plate. I've heard of this happening before so to everybody a warning. eyes peeled all the time because there are so many sickos out there who don't care about anybody or anything.

Having only been riding since just before xmas i have been amazed in that short time of the crazy behaviour of drivers towards us as riders and the verbal SH*T you have to put up with. Hearing this story though takes it to another level what is wrong with these MONGS. That is the only word i can think of to describe them. It is one thing being slapped on the ar*e by a passing car by a teenager who still thinks scooby doo is funny but there is real intent to hurt hitting someone with a chain.

I have spoke with a few people about it and they are all of the same opinion that as a collective we need to take a zero tollerence against it. All these incidents need to be recorded and as much detail about them written down.

These Lunatics need to be reported (hit them where it hurts Money and Points on their licenses if not more in jeffs case Assault). Maybe then they may realise its not funny.

We all know what the worst result would be..........................

I can't believe it. If it was travelling in the other direction must mean it was thrown by the driver, or over the driver, which takes some intent. Chain isn't easy to throw, and unless they were wearing gloves, it will be covered in physical evidence. Good thing is that every single one of the villains and sickos out there with form are in the Police DNA database, so just one link of that chain could, er, 'link' the crime to the culprit, if you'll pardon the expression. And the charge in this case is GBH. All eyes peeled for that chain, then, and if anyone finds it, leave it where it is and call the fuzz.

There's every chance that it was someone from the 'gypsy'* camp. Nothing's too hot or heavy for them and who's going to prosecute them?

* Obviously they are not real gypsies just the scum of the earth.

Sorry Jeff. In my anger I didn't express how sorry I am at what's happened to you and hope you recover soon!

I actually seen the bruising to Jeffs body last night
at the massge palour. Looked really nasty and was in shock at what happened.
A lesser skilled bike person (myself included) could well have lost control
of the bike and brought the whole peleton down.

Jeff seems ok now after taken out his anger on my sore legs

Its sad to read of people treating cyclists in this way. I hope Jeff is ok
