To all you roadies:

The Betty Pharoah(sp) Road Race is on 25th March, 9.00am HQ in Wick. It covers the same roads that we have been tearing up all winter so it is an ideal race for you guys.

I am planning on doing it, pre-entries have closed but there is entry on the line. There is a 3/4 event and a 1/2/3 event. I will speak to the organiser to see whether there is any room left in the 3/4 event and let you know, but I am looking at Jame Suter, Jon H, James Lewis and a few others who are perfectly capable of nailing this race.

I am more than happy to give some of you a lift if needed!!! It is an excellent race to start the season, we can discuss it more on Saturday ;)

i won't be doing it as I'm racing the Martin Ashfield RR which is part of the Junior national series on the Saturday up in Brecon. Should be a good race for me as there is loads of climbing! but seeing as its against the best in Britain...well we'll see.
Won't be out at the club for a few weeks cos theres the Abergavenny handicaps as well.

Dai why not do the Abergavenny handicaps. Had the start sheet a few days back and there loads of spaces left.

Nice one boys - good efforts! Jon - shoudl be a good race for you, best of luck! Simon - look forward to seeing you there! James - get well soon mate ;)
Don't think I'll be doing the Aber H'Caps, having done them in the past I never really enjoyed them, but good luck anyway, they are a good way of getting some strength and speed in your legs. Keep us posted!

It was a hard race today. started in the 2nd group and we ripped it up - 37mph down the dual to Raglan! Strong cross and head winds especially on the back roads. First lap was hardest IMO and at one point was nearly dropped. Anyway caught the 4th cats mid way through 2nd lap and caught by last group with about 8 miles to go. Got into that front group which thinned down considerably to about 25 riders or so. Managed a top 15 finish - i would guess between 10 and 15 in group sprint. Beat James Sutter to the line by a whisker. James did no work in the entire race tho so while most were working as a unit he just sat on the back the entire race. Ok this gets you a good placing at the end but you make no friends doing so!!!

Firstly, well done! That was a nice little race report and we'd like to see more please.

Secondly, I wasn't there and don't know how James is going at the moment but doing what he did is a valid tactic and is accepted as all being 'part of the game' so should not be criticised. There could be a day when you have bad legs or are in a group of stronger riders where you'll need to use your head and do something similar. If you then pipped them to the post you might get the odd comment but you've used the situation to your advantage.

Well done James and well done Jon (no bias - alphabetical order).
