Hi Alf, amazing times. I'm totally baffled how someone can set a sub 20 on the back road. What is going on?

In the meantime, I thought I'd have a go at updating the software to calculate the new points. The question is: what if we have a Beryl Burton moment, and the first rider is female? Does the first man still get 20 points? I.e. Is he racing in the category 'open' or 'men'?

If it's 'open' then my software will require David Bees to get 11 points, not 12, because he is the 10th points-scoring open finisher, but the 9th points-scoring male finisher. This pedantry has been brought to you by the letters P and H, and the number 8. I thank you.

A bit of a rushed answer as I'm meeting the boys for a ride real soon!

If, for example, Emma came 1st in the entire event she would get 20 points. If, for example, Bill Gannon came 2nd but was the first 'open' rider he would get 20 points.

I'm not sure how you could accommodate that but I just run a little spreadsheet which will come into play after this Thursday.
