Sunny with a gentle breeze (11mph) - Race Time Temp 12°C

Wow! A dry forecast for our final club event of the season. It looks a bit on the cool side but I'm sure you'll be warmer at the finish of our new 1.4 mile hill climb!

We'll be meeting up at the traffic lights at the northern end of Glynneath (where we used to meet for the club event 25's a few year back) and signing on will be from about 18.00hrs and closing at 18.25hrs for a prompt 18.35hrs race start on the old Neath Bank road up past Pont Walby. The finish will be at the 'Cefn Rhigos' sign and not the more ornate 'Rhigos' sign further down the climb.

We would love to see our second-claim friends at this event and, for this event only, we will allow riders from CTT affiliated clubs to join us for a £5 entry fee!

There'll probably be a few of you calling me a Cwm-hwnt at the finish...

For those of you sensibly switching to your road bike for this hill climb - don't forgot your lights! Front and rear!

Local sunset time is 19.35hrs.

Despite a promising weather forecast it just kept raining until about an hour before race time but it ended up nice and sunny for our first race on our new 1.4 mile long hill climb club event on the old Neath Bank course.

Dame Shirley got us underway on her MTB and to be fair she disappeared away into the distance leaving Wayne to ponder whether he'd reel her in but he did to finish among a clutch of riders with long six minute rides. Ceri hauled his MTB up to the finish in Cefn Rhigos with a very creditable 6:22 to finish fourth.

The podium had just the one shock with Tenniel O'Brien riding as a 'come and try it' ending up as a 'come and smash it' by finishing second with a 6:09 and nudging Neil Gregory down into bronze medal position. I'm glad I made Graham Rogerson 'scratch' as he did not disappoint with a storming 5:38 to take the win and also Alfie's MOTM.

After the race, it was great to break bread (well, sesame bun) with everyone in McDonalds and Will, Dai and myself would like to thank you for your kind gifts tonight. It goes without saying that our real reward is seeing your enjoyment and the continuation of this important aspect of club life.
