Light rain with a moderate breeze (16mph) - Race Time Temp 19°C

The poor weather forecast dictates that this weeks event will be on the back road regardless of the progress of the roadworks on the dual which are due to finish this week.

Anyway, moving on to the time-trial itself here are the essentials;

We meet up at the Neath Canal Car Park in Resolven for signing on from about 18.10hrs and closing at 18.40hrs for a prompt 19.00hrs race start up near Glynneath.

RC10/22G 'BACK ROAD' COURSE DESCRIPTION

START on the B4242 Old Vale of Neath Road at the entrance to F.E. Chick just north-east of Rheola Pond. Proceed south-west on the B4242 to Resolven junction. Continue south-west on the B4242 passing through Abergarwed village and Ynysarwed village to the 'Rock and Fountain' hill, climb and continue to TURN with care at the break in the dual-carriageway opposite the Groundhog factory at Ynysgerwen, SA10 8HH (5.0 miles).

Descend hill and retrace route north-eastwards along the B4242 through Ynysarwed village and Abergarwed village. Continue north-eastwards through Resolven junction and past Rheola Pond to FINISH directly opposite the start.

The weather forecast was arse about face in that instead of tapering down it started to ramp up. Despite this, five certifiable loonies took to the start line with four of them clearly not wanting to let Alan down... 'cos he was mad for it!

Alfie's MOTM goes to Colin Wallace for rolling back the years with a fine win on the sporting back road. Hopefully, we can slam in a couple of rides on the dual before the season closes.

As always, thanks to Dai and Will for their usual good work and to JD & Joan for covering the turn. Well done everyone!
