Sunny intervals with very light winds (4mph) - Race Time Temp 20°C

With 36 hours to go we have an improving weather situation for our back road '10' and the lovely Behnaz Akhgar has confirmed the following;

Dry? - Check!

Virtually no wind? - Check!

Nice and warm? - Check!

Hatched egg? - Chick!

OK. Moving on to the time-trial itself here are the essentials;

1. We meet up at the Neath Canal Car Park in Resolven for signing on from about 18.10hrs and closing at 18.40hrs for a prompt 19.00hrs race start up near Glynneath.

2. You have to be a member of the PTW or a second-claim member of the PTW. There is no 'single race' fee - you have to join the club as a first-claim or second-claim member and for 2024 this is now £40.00 (£30.00 + £10.00 supplement).

RC10/22G 'BACK ROAD' COURSE DESCRIPTION

START on the B4242 Old Vale of Neath Road at the entrance to F.E. Chick just north-east of Rheola Pond. Proceed south-west on the B4242 to Resolven junction. Continue south-west on the B4242 passing through Abergarwed village and Ynysarwed village to the 'Rock and Fountain' hill, climb and continue to TURN with care at the break in the dual-carriageway opposite the Groundhog factory at Ynysgerwen, SA10 8HH (5.0 miles).

Descend hill and retrace route north-eastwards along the B4242 through Ynysarwed village and Abergarwed village. Continue north-eastwards through Resolven junction and past Rheola Pond to FINISH directly opposite the start.

A fabulous warm Summer's evening with a very light breeze resulted in quite a few smiling faces including Emma Davies who notched up another PB and also a club record for the back road '10'. Shirley and Wayne also recorded PB's for this sporting course whilst at the sharp end just 19 seconds separated first and third with Michael Davies (the Second) taking his first PTW club event win (probably the first of many) and Graham Rogerson's amazing form continued with a 22:55 that edged Neil Gregory into third.

With a handful of strong candidates for Alfie's MOTM I've elected to go for the rider who secured a PB and a club course record so well done Emma Davies.

Big thanks to Will and Dai and also to JD and Joan for covering the turn and also to Tony and John Shehan for watching over you at Resolven 'T' junction.
