Saturday, September 30th and Sunday October 1st

Whilst the Thursday night time-trial series is now just a happy, fading memory this coming weekend is our annual hill climb championship in the now established format of a double hill climb weekend that will decide who will become the 2023 Club Hill Climb Champion.

On Saturday, September 30th we have the short, sharp Norton Hill Climb (1:6 or 17% at it's worst) whilst on Sunday, October 1st we have the long grinding ascent of the Bwlch.

Points will be awarded in each event and the rider with the most points over the two events wins. Lowest aggregate time will decide things in the event of a draw on points - after that, it will be decided by who can neck a pint quickest at the club dinner.

The Saturday and Sunday club rides will both start at 10.00hrs and go straight to the hill climb courses for an approximate 11.00hrs start (11.15hrs on Sunday). These are official club events and competitors must sign on, wear race numbers, wear a helmet and have working front and rear lights.

Congratulations to Karl Rees for winning the 2023 Hill Climb Championship. At least he was kept honest by having some competition in todays event on the Bwlch and young Iori did ever so well to keep within two minutes of one of the best climbers the PTW have ever seen and Iori also knocked half-a-minute off his time from last year in far worse conditions. Impressive!

Sorry I wasn't there, but I was taking part in the Mumbles Triathlon at pretty much the exact same moment. Not that I've ever done the Bwlch HC. That's quite a big ride from Clydach.

Electric bikes are great. They give ordinary people the chance to know what it feels like to be me.
