Sunny intervals with a moderate breeze (16mph) - Race Time Temp 17°C

Cricket has 'The Hundred' whilst we have 'The Thirteen' - both go against tradition but both are huge fun and, perhaps, they represent the future in the medium to long term.

Well, once again, there is some rain about on race day but it looks like a dry afternoon and evening so we should be all set for this penultimate visit to the '13' with the remainder of August being on the dual and with there being five Thursdays in the month that's four chances after tonight to get those PB's you've all been chasing.

Anyway, back to the '13' here are the PTW Club Records;

Ben Jones 26:41

Emma Davies 35:01

With Will Roberts (Saint Piran) holding the course record of 26:02 - wow!

OK. Moving on to the time-trial itself here are the essentials;

1. We meet up at the Neath Canal Car Park in Resolven for signing on from about 18.10hrs and closing at 18.40hrs for a prompt 19.00hrs race start up near Glynneath.

2. You have to be a member of the PTW or a second-claim member of the PTW. There is no 'single race' fee - you have to join the club as a first-claim or second-claim member and for 2023 this is now £35.00 (£25.00 + £10.00 supplement).

COURSE DESCRIPTION

START on the B4242 Old Vale of Neath Road at unused entrance just south-west of the new Health Centre in Glynneath. Proceed south-west on the B4242 to Resolven junction. Continue south-west on the B4242 passing through Abergarwed village and Ynysarwed village to the 'Rock and Fountain' hill, climb and continue to TURN with care at the break in the dual-carriageway opposite the Groundhog factory at Ynysgerwen, SA10 8HH (6.5 miles).

Descend hill and retrace route north-eastwards along the B4242 through Ynysarwed village and Abergarwed village. Continue north-eastwards through Resolven junction and past Rheola Pond to FINISH directly opposite the start.

The ride to the start is 3.2 miles or 15 mins at a 13mph plod.

Not a bad night at all so well done everyone and a warm Wheelers welcome to Andy Lewis who I gently persuaded to ride and I'm now off his Christmas card list. Thanks to Will and Dai for the usual and also to Emma for marshalling at the turn and to Dan for taking down the signs by Resolven. Every little helps!

Looking at the times compared to your PB's for the '13' shows that Matt went forward by (appropriately) 13 secs but Hollie leapt forward by almost a full minute - so that's Alfie's MOTM taken care of. Well done Hollie!
