How come our own 25 mile TT is never advertised on here, so as to encourage club members to enter their own event? I've just gone looking for it, because it's September, but have discovered that entries have already closed. Another year goes by.

Two reasons for this really Bill.
1. This year we have only had 25 entries on what is a now a slow course. So the committee had to make a decision as to whether we would run it. We are. 2. I use google chrome or Microsoft Edge on my computer and for sometime now have been unable to log in the the forum. 3. The club has a Facebook page and Wattsap group and apologies. But it’s easier |

If I could have some volunteers for the missing marshalling points or any amendments to the current arrangements. Many thanks all |

Sorry Les, but you know that it is completely unacceptable for the club to disseminate information to club members on Facebook and Whatsapp. It may be easier for you, but I do not have a Facebook user, and it is impossible to look at information on Facebook without one. There's a reason for that - you have to pay for access by having your behaviour tracked (and then altered).
It's amazing how people acknowledge that the advertising and political industries are worth $100bn's a year, which proves that they must work, but then say that advertising has no effect on them. That is a common delusion. Regardless of your decision to allow yourself to be treated like that - you have no right to make that decision on behalf of other members of the club. Although there's no safe alternative to Facebook, there is a safe alternative to Whatsapp called Signal, run by an independent non-profit and written by the same people who wrote Whatsapp. I wonder why they did this? _______________ Electric bikes are great. Sorry Bill,
You obviously read the second part of my response and chose to ignore. The first part. The reason the 25 had not been published anywhere was that up until the committee meeting last Wednesday it was not certain that the event was being put on. As far as publicising the event that is carried out on behalf of the CTT, the event has been on the CTT web site since January. Finally as for your point about how it is unacceptable for the club to disseminate info etc. The club is its membership. The vast majority of which use Facebook and watts app as it is easier. However. The committee are well aware of your dislike of all things Microsoft So we always follow up on this page as well. Hope that clarifies the situation for you |
