And now, the end is near...

Well, our 8 race club TT championship comes to an end with our final Thursday night '10' and, for once, we have a tidy forecast with a 1-2% chance of rain, a gentle 10mph south westerly breeze but perhaps a tad cooler than we'd want at 17C. So, I'm expecting SB's more than PB's but I'll be delighted if I'm proved wrong.

The essentials;

1. We meet up at the Neath Canal Car Park in Resolven for signing on from about 17.45hrs and closing at 18.15hrs for a prompt 18.30hrs race start.

2. You have to be member of the PTW or an existing second-claim member of the PTW. There is no 'single race' fee - you have to join the club as a first-claim member or be an existing second-claim member. Regretfully, we have now closed the doors to second-claim membership.

To clarify, there will be a maximum of 28 riders taking part. Getting there early does not guarantee that you get a ride but getting there late guarantees you won't! In the unfortunate event of over-subscription then first-claim members get initial priority and we then get into a luck of the draw scenario.

Advance Notice - Our Hill Climb weekend is on Sept 26th/27th. Two contrasting hill climb events over two days.

Well done everyone. Some cracking rides tonight.

Well, fair play, we had a good night to finish the season. Using Andy Davies and Rod Hicks as my barometers then, perhaps, it was not as good a night as August 6th but it wasn't that far behind. Many of you went forward from August 6th but I think that was due to increasing form.

Anyway, Shirley and Emma got us underway but it was Rod Lucas who was the first rider back followed by Julian Brock both reasonably close to their SB's as was Hollie who almost caught Shirley for four minutes before the line. Heath Williams was just 6 seconds off a new SB (PB?) but, shrugging off a back twinge, Bill Gannon recorded a new SB to record a 23:56 and this was soon followed by another six SB's. But before them, Stephan and Tony came home in times that they would have been delighted with in 2019 but they've both moved on impressively since then so their report card must read "must try harder" :evil: .

Pritch was the next rider back with a SB short '23' and clearly on a trajectory that would have surely seen him get a '22' next week... and don't call me Shirley. Just three seconds behind Pritch on the result board was his grandson, Dylan Sage, knocking out another short '23' and we're all looking forward to seeing him at our hill-climb weekend on Sept 26/27th. Indeed, that applies to everyone who has participated in our mini-season this year.

John Deeley emptied the tank to record his first '22' for a while (or perhaps ever?) and Graham Rogerson is enjoying this TT'ing lark far too much for my liking by recording a SB 22:27 and winning the 'Battle of the Grahams' but Graham Howell also recorded a new SB. Hugh Pascoe knocked out a hugely impressive new SB of 22:08 to finish sixth. Fourth and fifth places couldn't have been closer with Neil Seaward just edging it over Martin Sage by one second, both finishing with a very short '22'. Mike Hall's excellent recent form continued with a new SB of 21:47 to finish third which shines a light on just how good a ride Rod Hicks' second place was, representing a 30 second bounceback from last week. For this reason, Rod Hicks is Alfie's 'man of the match'.

Andy Davies took the win with a 20:15 to maintain his 'one minute' winning margin record. Andy has been head and shoulders above everyone when he's ridden our events this season and is Alfie's 'man of the season'.

Special thanks to Hollie for the post-race nibbles and to Will, Dan and Dai for their season long support.
